My cat is in heat. I was not prepared, having never owned a feline companion before.
I've had a longstanding appointment to have her spayed about ten days from now (a date suggested by my vet) in order to avoid this. She's only just five months old, so she's really young to be going through it.
It's pretty much disgusting. She moans all the time and flies around the apartment. And the butt thing. Good Christ.
Whenever I return from having been gone more than a few hours, we have a routine set up: I come in to find her asleep on my bed. She gets up and we have about five minutes of cutesy snuggle time. Today, however, I walked into my bedroom, and cooed "Velma" like normal. She then proceeded to get up, turn around, place her front paws and chin on the bed, and raise her asshole right up in the air, the whole time purring louder than I thought natural for such a small animal.
Now she wants attention all the time, which I'm happing to give, but she makes sure that even when curled up in my lap as I'm reading, her tail is straight to the side to expose her anus. What the fuck does she expect me to do: massage it?!
I'm sure it's natural, and it will stop when I get her fixed, but I can't help but be a little upset at the whole thing.
