Spread the word! For charity!

As some of you may or may not know, I Captain an American Cancer Society Relay For Life Team Team GEEK! This is our third year as a team, but our second year as Team GEEK and on our own without corporate help. We have several things planned and could use all the help we can get. I know money is tight for a lot of people, but even if you follow our mascot and spread the word that will help.

One of the new things for Team GEEK is our ambassador The Traveling Duckie. 2011 is the first year of Duckie's existence and could use all the support we can get him. For 2011, The Traveling Duckie's design was based on the character of Brigadier General Alistair Lethbridge-Stewart from Doctor Who as played by Nicholas Courtney. We decided to honor The Brig when it was learned that Courtney passed away from stomach cancer. (According to Tom Baker's tribute to Courtney.)

The ways you can follow The Traveling Duckie is threefold:
1- Watch and/or join his blog at http://travelingduckie.livejournal.com/. There you can also sign-up to shelter The Brig, along with watching for information on future versions of The Traveling Duckie. He will also blog about the various experiences he has.
2- Follow The Traveling Duckie on Twitter at http://twitter.com/TravelingDuckie. He will be tweeting from the road along with reminding people about the fight against cancer.
3- You can like his page at Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/TravelingDuckie) and see updates along with all the pictures, including the ones not able to be posted to his blog.
Following The Traveling Duckie's adventures don't cost you anything, but... The Brig and all the stuff he gathers on his journey (including photos) will be auctioned off the week after our Relay For Life event in August.

Please spread the word. Nothing can bring smiles better than a crocheted rubber ducky based off a character from fandom and who's goal is to combat cancer.

Some pictures from his adventures thus far...
