The Traveling Duckie
Sooooo... I was sitting in traffic - as I often do - and an idea, nay, brilliant idea came to my mind: The Traveling Duckie!
I captain an American Cancer Society Relay For Life team (Team GEEK) and one of our goals is to find new and fun ways to raise donations. I know I could also use a pick-me-up some days, and love hearing form friends. All of this combined in my head to create the tale of the traveling duckie.
I crochet rubber duckies, and have made several variations: a devil duckie, an Eleven duckie, a Dalek Duckie, and am finishing a Sherlock duckie. The thought was, could we send the Duckie on an adventure? Send the duckie with a little traveling bag, either mailing him or handing him off to people. That person takes pictures of the duckie's adventures (perhaps a picture with a Scotsman, at a convention, at Navy Pier, at the Wales Millennium Centre, etc.), and send in a "dear Diary" for the duckie's webpage. Eventually the duckie will make it back to Chicago and we will auction him off, and his bag of souvenirs, along with a photo album of his adventures.
Haven't decided what duckie it will be. Perhaps another Eleven duckie?
He does look rather jaunty in his fez. Fezzes are cool.
Or something different?
Then, who would be willing to carry the duckie along? perhaps show him Cardiff? Or New York? Or London? Thoughts? Questions?
