Yay, I get to talk Vanessa!husker77October 11 2007, 23:58:22 UTC
I'm glad you like it! I could on for PAGES about why this song reminds of Jate and Jack/Kate/Sawyer. This song has really helped me deal with Kate's actions this season... I have to believe that she'll figure things out, including her feelings for Jack.
I've been listening to Vanessa since before her first album came out - early 2002, I'd say. Which songs do you have? Because I would definitely be willing to share more. :)
They didn't promote her second album at all so not many people have heard her really good stuff. Most just think of her as the chick that sings 'A Thousand Miles' and really, she's so much more. ATM isn't even really a favorite of mine (although I admit I like it). This album was produced with Irv Gotti so it's going to be promoted a ton more. 'Nolita Fairytale' is already being promoted and on rotation on VH1.
I've seen her live five times thus far. And really, if I didn't live in the Midwest that number would be much, much higher. I have to travel 3+ hours each way just to see her. One time I drove over 7 hours to see her. She is just so amazing live. I've met so many people at her concerts that barely even liked her before hand but left a true fan. She's one of those artists that you have to see live to get how talent she really is. I can't wait to see her on tour this time around...

Gosh, speaking of Kate and Jack and Sawyer, I just watched I Do cause Lost season three is on my national TV. And that episode completely crushed me, again! It hurt so, so much when I watched it the first time. I think no other TV show and no other moment in my TV watching history has let me down and disappointed me as much as this thing did. I was literally heartbroken. So I really sympathize with what Michael/Sara fans are going through at the moment. Cause even though I loved this ship, it hasn't affected me that much, somehow I am always a bit detached, unless it's about Jack/Kate...
Awww it was very sweet to receive your comment, cause I could tell how happy you were that you got to talk about Vanessa :) I'm the same. My two big musical loves are Alanis Morissette and Tori Amos, and I'm overjoyed whenever someone comments on an entry about them saying they like their music or are very fond of a certain song.
About Vanessa, I actually had Be Not Nobody, I bought it when I heard several singles off that album and really liked them. I first found out about her when I heard A Thousand Miles, but also loved Ordinary Day and hmm what was the other video? Pretty Baby I think. Then I bought the album. But unfortunately I borrowed it to a friend, then the two of us stopped talking and I never got it back... So I downloaded just a few songs off it. But now that you reminded me, I definitely have to get the rest of them, and check out her new stuff. I haven't seen Nolita Fairytale on VH1 yet. Maybe I just haven't caught it yet, or it starts airing on European VH1 later than on the American one.
Wow you've seen her 5 times already, that's a lot! And I completely understand when you said you're frustrated that you have to drive far away to see her. I live in the middle of nowhere in this small country no artist I like ever visits, so first of all I have to hope for European tours, and then be prepared to travel for hours to go to a concert. I think my record was traveling to Berlin by bus for 12 hours to get to see Alanis for the first time. But well since concerts are such a rare occasion for me, it's always worth it.
Has Vanessa ever toured in Europe? I'd like to see her live, cause I really enjoyed her first CD. So in case she ever comes somewhere not too far away, I'd like to go.
