You know who's awesome? Spider-man! Every time I read a recent issue of Amazing Spider-Man, I have this weird combination of rage and disgust and also nostalgia. I mean, current issues of Spider-Man (okay, everything post-BND) is complete garbage, but the good thing about these rage-inducing comics is that it makes me go back and read old issues of Spider-man, and this makes me happy happy happy! :D
I am such a little kid when I read Spider-man. I get all smiley and happy and sometimes I giggle. You know, like, a manly giggle. Sorta.
It's just, like...how can anybody NOT love Spider-man at his best? I'm talking stuff from five, ten years ago, not the old 90's stuff and not this current trash. The golden years. Spidey's life ACTUALLY FUCKING CHANGES. At one point HE'S FREAKIN' HOMELESS. If that isn't fucking the status quo, what is? Aside from that, these are also the years that had Peter becoming a High School teacher (soooo Peter to do that) and eventually joining the Avengers. These were AMAZING times for a Spider-fan. Things were changing, things were awesome, and Peter actually evolved and grew up the way a normal human being does. Everything about Spider-man was changing and different and yet it was always, always Spider-man. I'm amazed that these writers managed to do that so well. Just...blown away.
Dammit, now I need to find a game where I can RP Spider-man. I hate having this much free time. >_<
P.S. Brand New Day undid all the awesome stuff I mentioned in this post, so...yeah. Sadface.
