if you weren't already on my friends list, I'd friend you for this post alone :)

I don't understand why people don't get why Kara was the way she was with Lee and Anders in that scene.

According to Kara's world, Lee has a frak buddy and has given her no clue that he might have feelings for her instead.
Lets look at the evidence.....
Lee went from having his hands down her pants, to having them down Dualla's in record time. If Lee actually had real feelings for Kara, you might think he would've needed at least a few days/weeks/hell, even a month or two to mend a broken heart. OH but that's right, Lee had been paying for sex on Cloud Nine just days/maybe a week or two before his almost frak with Kara.
Telling Kara to slow down and it wasn't a race could easily be construed as rejection and simply that Apollo prefers the slow lays instead of the fast ones. I'm sure his time with the hooker meant that Lee got to pay for many, many slow lays. Kara had been drinking, was very depressed and probably very humiliated. The way she lashed out at Lee was more of her trying to convince herself that there was nothing between them, to probably save some of her own embarrassment. Lee of course just tells Kara that he is her friend. How very romantic of you Lee. Kara now thinks you will frak anything. And he proves her right by going from Kara to Dee. Kara's misery only gets worse and so she clings to the last remembered time of happiness = Anders.
Then Lee starts dating Dee very publicly, and of course there is the shooting.
Kara has never looked so devastated.
Kara wanted nothing more than to care for Lee, but Lee had already chosen his girl and that is who he relied on. Kara probably realised at that point just how much Lee meant to her, but Kara thinks she's a curse and a cancer to those she loves, so she walks away leaving Lee in Dee's capable hands.
But Kara is not happy.
She acts up on the Pegasus and Lee is busy frakking his new girlfriend and bitching about Kara and making jokes at her expence (this is where my hatred of Dee reached nuclear proportions - her smugness was vomit inducing, as is the smarmy way that Lee and Dee kiss, it's disgusting and makes my skin crawl - yucky poo)
Lee completely broke Kara when he ripped her a new one, and yet Kara comes crawling back to Lee like she always does (eg. KLG1 - would you miss me sir?, Captain I'm sorry) Kara needs Lee to be her friend. It is one of the only real things she's had since the worlds ended. Kara was so completely vulnerable in that hug scene from Captain's Hand and Lee was a little condescending. And we know from the *fake* previouslies that Lee really wanted Kara to hurry and get the frak out so he could bounce his girlfriend one last time before he left. And even making up with Kara, Lee still wanted to make the extra effort with Dee, because we found out that he said he wanted to try and make it work between them on the different ships. Lee doesn't seem very heartbroken to me. He has a woman he doesn't have to pay, he seems quite happy.
Lee sends Kara off on a potentially deadly mission without so much of a hug. Just a "I hope you find him Kara, I really do." Does Kara get to see the forlorn look that he gives? NO, only the audience is aware that Lee might be still carrying a torch for Kara.
Kara has been so alone since she got back from Caprica the first time, and Lee started his fling with Dualla way back in flight of the Phoenix, and if we are to believe Ron Moore and his Podcasts, the spark between Lee/Dee happened in the beginning of season 2.
Kara finally rescues Anders.
Kara is finally happy.
Kara finally has a man who doesn't yell at her, or continuously points out her flaws and who is not afraid to show her how he feels.
Kara is so relieved that she is actually giddy with happiness.

I ran out of space...continued in next comment....

my comment is too long and I need two posts *sheepish grin*

The bunkroom scene had Kara hugging Lee in genuine affection, because Kara really does love Lee, but she knows he wants someone else, so in her mind, because he is supposed to be her friend (as he continually points out to her) Kara thinks that Lee would be happy to see her happy.
And isn't it so telling that drunk Kara is all about ownership and possession. This is the same Kara who was all ready to be someone's wife in the past. Kara has had an abusive childhood, she clings to Adama like he is her lifeline. She also clings to Lee's friendship in much the same way.
And now Kara has Sam and she's eager to make her claim on him asap. She doesn't leave Sam with any doubt that she wants him, needs him and Sam in return leaves Kara in no doubt as well. This is exactly the type of reassurance that an emotionally insecure woman like Kara needs.
Kara's remarks about Dee were cruel, but I think that was some of Kara's real feelings coming through in her drunken state. If Kara approved of Lee/Dee or wasn't jealous in some way, she wouldn't have said it. And Kara only spoke her mind when she finally had the security of her own lover. Kara took a risk, because it was probably eating her up inside and in her euphoric drunk state, she ran her mouth.
Did Kara see the heartbreak and yearning and devastation and jealousy on Lee's face? NO.
Did she set out to be a bitch on purpose? NO.
Wasn't Kara's body hug of Lee, proof that Kara still needs Lee? Yes.
Kara just thought that Lee would be happy for her because he is her friend and because he already has someone else.
Did Lee have a right to be jealous? NO.
Did Lee have a right to be upset about Kara's words? Of course he did.
Do I feel sorry for Lee? Yes, because it was more obvious in that scene than in Scar that Lee is completely in love with Kara. No, because if Lee really is in love with Kara and wants her so bad, then why hasn't he tried harder and come right out and said anything, why is he trying so hard to make it work with Dee? Because until LDYB2, Lee thought Anders was just another one of Kara's ghosts. He could've spent those weeks/months since Scar to prove to Kara that there really is an us. Instead he went to the next easy girl.
Lee made a choice and I'm glad he has to suffer the consequences. No wonder Lee is fat now, Dee would drive any man to depression.
Where as Kara does have an idiot husband, but she loves him and is at least trying to be true to her choices. Kara is an extremely loyal person, once you gain her complete trust. Lee has flipped out on Kara too many times since the mini for Kara to trust Lee with her heart.

And yet I have complete faith that Lee and Kara will find each other in the end, and as hot as Kara Anders were in their little make-out scene, Lee and Kara doing the same scene would be 100 times hotter.

:D

Thank you for liking the post! I am so pro-Girlfriend that I wonder whether I'm even slightly objective about Kara/Lee stuff, but if you agree with me then I don't care :-)
Telling Kara to slow down and it wasn't a race could easily be construed as rejection and simply that Apollo prefers the slow lays instead of the fast ones.
Thank you! How does wanting to take it slower mean that he loves her? There's isn't a logical connection.
I'm sure his time with the hooker meant that Lee got to pay for many, many slow lays.
ROTFL, yes it did and he probably had to pay a premium for the slow lay.
Lee of course just tells Kara that he is her friend. How very romantic of you Lee. Kara now thinks you will frak anything. And he proves her right by going from Kara to Dee.
Isn't that what every girl wants to be told after a guy rejects her advances? No? My mistake.
She acts up on the Pegasus and Lee is busy frakking his new girlfriend and bitching about Kara and making jokes at her expense (this is where my hatred of Dee reached nuclear proportions - her smugness was vomit inducing, as is the smarmy way that Lee and Dee kiss, it's disgusting and makes my skin crawl - yucky poo)
I really, really hated that scene. How dare Lee speak of Kara contemptuously to Dualla!? The scene made me really not like Lee and hate Dee. I don't like who he is with Dualla and it makes me not like him very much.
I know, everyone is like "Oh their relationship is all good again and he said "forever" while they were hugging". What? He treated her like a buddy, handed her a line of bs with his entire explanation of why he was pissed at her and then brushed off her sincere question about whether they were copacetic. She wants his approval so desperately and he doesn't seem like he wants to go to the effort it would take to truly repair their relationship. I think Lee gave up on Kara in this episode and the final scene was illustrative of his disentanglement. Oh, and she shot him on ACCIDENT. What right does he have to be mad at her when he's partially at blame for dashing across the room? ACCIDENT. Ugh.
Lee sends Kara off on a potentially deadly mission without so much of a hug. Just a "I hope you find him Kara, I really do."
Not only that, but the look in her eyes when she said, "So do I" was so desperate, like she knew that her redemption and happiness depended on finding Anders, especially since Lee had given up on her and was really just a distant friend. Unlike Helo,I don't think Lee has any idea how much this mission means to Kara. It's not only about finding a guy she might love, it's about following through on her promise and atoning for her sins against Zak and everyone she's ever let down.

ITA. She doesn't approve of Dee and she let Lee know. I think Lee was probably pissed that she insulted his frak buddy, but to me it was much more about Kara making out with Sam in front of Lee that threw him off the deep end. She was shoving her happiness in Lee's face.

I love your analysis of this scene and I can't look at it the same anymore. It just seems that Sam's confidence with Kara illustrates just how retarded Lee can be. I can't see Lee impulsively pulling Kara into his lap for a kiss, he's just too controlled. Lee's control comes off as rejection and criticism to Kara, especially since she's afraid that she isn't good enough for Lee. They each need to move towards common ground before they can gave any sort of working relationship.
Do I feel sorry for Lee? Yes, because it was more obvious in that scene than in Scar that Lee is completely in love with Kara. It blows my mind that TPTB want us to buy into the crap-fest that is Lee/Dee and at the same time have Lee showing the viewers very much he loves Kara. Ugh! We all knew he loved her, but like you said he really illustrated his longing and desire in LDYB2 and 2. The look on his face when Kara left his office in LDYB1 was so "woe is me, she loves another man and I don't want her to" and of course he was as jealous as all get out in LDYB2.

Because until LDYB2, Lee thought Anders was just another one of Kara's ghosts.
The "I hope you find him" was such a lie. Of course, whenever someone says "I really do" it means they don't mean what they just said so.. He doens't know what to do with the reality of Kara in love with someone else, again. Lee is as much of a chicken as Kara concerning their relationship. I think he's afraid that he isn't good enough for her. Anders is a major threat because he has confidence, he's tall and he acts instead of over-thinking. Lee wanted Anders to be a loser, but he turns out to be just as great as Kara thought he was. It had to be a huge blow to Lee.

Lee made a choice and I'm glad he has to suffer the consequences. No wonder Lee is fat now, Dee would drive any man to depression.
Anders is almost Kara's equal while Dee is not even close to being Lee's equal in every way (one of the reasons I hate their relationship). Plus, Kara is actually in love with Anders, which is so very different from Lee's "relationship" with Lee. Kara's love affair with Sam emphasizes how little Lee has--hence the noodles. But where is Lee going to go from here? How are we going to get from where we are to where Kara and Lee can be together?

as hot as Kara Anders were in their little make-out scene, Lee and Kara doing the same scene would be 100 times hotter. Agreed. I'm surprised my tv doesn't explode when Kara and Lee are on the screen together because their chemistry is unbelievable. They are the OTP. I am fine with Kara being with Anders though because he makes her happy and I think it's really important that she has unconditional love right now.

Lee has flipped out on Kara too many times since the mini for Kara to trust Lee with her heart. If we analyzed their actions using the book
