I must say that I have never found it silly. I am grateful every time you give me one more thing to admire and absorb, because I am doing it constantly also. I remember squatting on our porch staring at roly-polies until our legs fell asleep. I remember counting the different color cigarette butts between the cobblestones in Faenza's streets. I remember your collections of beautiful tiny things, maybe only enough to fill half of a plastic cup, but as big to me as any exhibit worth hours of contemplation.

Not only is this not silly, it is my religion, I'd say. To stop and use my senses and appreciate their worth. Given to me through thousands of years of evolution of a curious human brain, and by the decreasing disorder caused by whatever will that drives our universe. Call it god if you must, call it he or she or father or mother or me you we. This is a new wave of thinking. When all so big is figured out faster and faster, and the roads are paved for us all to thrive and live longer and more equally, then we can stop, and look at our feet, and finally squat down to wonder what's underneath. Never lose it. It's what will fling you into eternity and I will find you there.
