New York State and Same Sex Marriage

Feb 27, 2004 17:06

Today in New Palz NY the mayor married 4 gay couples. Calling out to all other mayors in the state to support the gay community.

As glad as i am to see that there have been "legal" same sex marriages in my state, i am a little worried that this is just a publicity stunt for the mayor.
If i am not mistaken he is one of the youngest mayors in the state, and i believe on record. He is the mayor of a very liberal college town and this is a great way for him to gain support.

apparently there is going to be a drive next week on long island. PFLAG and its related groups are sending marriage minded couples out on the town searching for a Town/County clerk that will issue them a marriage lisence. Once they find one that does they are going to make an announcement so that other same sex couples can flock to this Clerk to recieve their marriage lisence.

as completely PRO same sex marriage as i am...i hate the way my state is going about this.

what do you other new yorkers think?
