This also goes with the permission to make illusions and such to mess with him. All the amazing Silent Hill fun I love so much! ( I freaked out when I saw the reserve / app! ) I'm going to try to keep this as short as possible. There's plenty more information in my App.

Soul super short version:
Soul is a demon scythe, a person who can transform into a weapon and back into human form. He comes from a family of famous musicians and is the only one in his line who has this ability. He knows how to play the piano but feels that it influences insanity within him. He also doesn't feel that he can play as well as his brother Wes and this has caused a great deal of insecurity in him, not being able to fit in with his family. He was found by Maka, a meister who wields demon weapons, and takes him on as her partner. Leaving with her to Death City and attending Shibusen gave him the chance to reinvent himself and leave his lavish artistic past behind and become a cool guy. For that reason, he doesn't talk about his past and never plays the piano unless it's needed.
On a mission in Italy, in order to protect Maka, he takes a potentially fatal blow and ends up infected with Black Blood which encourages insanity. Once infected, his insecurities have manifested in the form of an imp that resides in his mind and soul. This little demon is always trying to persuade Soul to let go of logic and fall into insanity for the sake of power and losing all fear. At times, during battles, he must use his piano and borrow power from his black blood infection at the risk of losing control, but since Maka has anti-insanity attributes and Soul has a strong will, they're always able to recover.
He cares for Maka a great, great deal. To him, she's pretty much his purpose. He has no desire to ever return home to his family's mansion or to the life he had left and being her weapon is what he feels gives him meaning. Since coming to Facility, he's had to bide for her attention ( something that was never an issue back home ) and deal with his insecurities in being able to protect her as well as the other heroes here. On top of that, Maka and Jet's recent relationship will be awakening a lot of mixed feelings in him such as jealousy and a growing realization of just how much he cares for Maka, as well as his own fears of being replaced in her life.
He's going to be giving her more space during off weeks to allow her and Jet to have their time together. This puts him at risk with his growing susceptibility to insanity and his growing insecurities.
I would love, love, love to plot with you! I've wanted to mess with Soul's sanity since I started. He's kinda naieve, and would go to help Alessa because she's a small girl. If you need more info, please ping me on aim, I'm zigziggon .
Also, since I'm not sure how familiar with the Soul Eater canon, lemme show you a bit of the kind of messed up place he's from, so the illusions or anything else can include some stuff that reflects his home.

Alessa's powers are very heavily capped, so the Otherworld is out until Facility 3 (where it'll only be around for a twenty-foot radius around her), but the monsters can be made and her presence will screw around with his dreams and make him go through the Otherworld in his mind. This'll be fun. >D
