Clue Challenge #9: March 2010

Mar 01, 2010 19:35

Well, it's the first day of a new month yet again, so here I am with the new Clue Challenge prompts for March.

But first, I bring you a recap of all the lovely challenge response fic that we got during February. Whereas January was a little dry on the this front, we made out quite well in February. First, we got the beginnings of a wonderful February challenge (Don, ice, outside) fic from celadon_55, namely Ice ( Part I & Part II).
For previous prompts, we got a whole slew of responses. From aleo_70 we got the great five chapter response to the December '09 prompts (Don, menorah, synagogue) Miracle. The January '10 prompts (Don, drugs, warehouse) generated not one, but two responses this month. The first was the fantastic fic Message Delivered by rinkle and the second As a Newborn from myself.

A very big thanks to everyone who contributed something and now for the new prompts:

Clue Challenge #9: March 2010

Who: Don
What: explosion
Where: crime scene

Don and the team get called to countless crime scenes and any of them could potentially be a dangerous place. If it's fresh one, the perpetrators could still be present or they could come back to the scene, either to see what is going on or because they forgot something and wish to destroy the evidence. Alternatively, the perpetrators could have purposefully left behind a present for the cops/agents.

The explosion can be from a bomb, but it could also be from a completely different source. The crime scene could be in a dilapidated building with faulty gas pipes or tanks that could go off from the slightest spark, be it from part of the building collapsing, a stray bullet or some chemical from a CSI's equipment.

Perhaps Don isn't at the crime scene on purpose but rather stumbles upon it by accident. He could be on downtime in LA/Albuquerque/Quantico/... when he walks in on something and gets caught in the crossfire so to speak. Maybe he's there with Coop during Fugitive Recovery. Their perp could already be involved in crime once more or it could be something completely unrelated to whatever case (if any) they're currently working on.

Or go back in time and show us pro-ball!Don watching from the sidelines as the police/FBI/... work a scene. Perhaps it's just curiosity or perhaps he's already started to think about joining the Bureau and has a more professional interest in what is going on. It's not like getting hurt at a crime scene while doing that would at all deter him from following his dreams, indeed, it might even encourage him further as he sees the need for more dedicated personnel who aren't afraid to do the job.

Maybe little!Don or teenage!Don stumbles across a crime scene on the way home from school or baseball practice and gets hurt as a result of what is going down. Perhaps the cops/agents who responded to the crime made a real impression on him and became his heros? Especially if he saw one being really brave. Alan and Margaret would love that.
