Update in regards to my last post.
I was freaking out for awhile there, but it looks like everyone who is still here with me is going to pull through. For those who don't know, I got hit with something really nasty that tried to wipe out my rats. I'm going to clarify here.
Jeice started looking sick around November 21st or so, and I assumed it was nothing more than a respiratory infection, as Rayman had one a few months before and was doing fine, if not rattly. The next day, I noticed Teddy was breathing hard as well and Rayman was looking bad again too. I listened to everyone and EVERYONE sounded like they were suffering some effects of it, though Zedd being the strongest and most likely leader, and Jordan being the youngest were only really sneezing and sounding a bit crackly. With the ok of the vet I started everyone on antiobotics immideatly.
The next day after that, I lost Rayman. He went from a rat with what can be described of as a chronic cold to dead within 2 days. He was the nicest little guy I ever owned, and was always ready to cuddle, and I will miss him dearly.
The next week or two was spend trying to save Teddy. He really looked like hell for awhile there and there was more than one instance where I considered just taking him to the vet and having him put to sleep because he's 2 years old and he was dealing with more than any 2 year old rat should have to deal with. Every time I was about to give up on him though, he would pick himself up and try to eat, try to drink, to do things even though he was practically dying at times. But now he's walking around, eating, playing, cleaning himself and generally acting like Teddy again. His lungs sound better if not still a bit crackly, but they're not gurgling and full of fluid anymore. Jeice is still a bit ill too, but he never got to the point that Teddy got to.
I am just glad that this shit is coming to an end. I don't know if Teddy will ever be completely healthy again, but he's enjoying himself again.
Teach me to walk anywhere that there are animals without desanitizing myself for an hour afterwards.
