The Distant Traveller

Man, the sunset tonight is breathtakingly gorgeous. This is one of those evenings where I'm just sitting here with my living room window open and watching the colors fade. Particularly cool is the way the stratus is along the horizon and the colors and mid and high clouds are lit up above as the sun is below the horizon. I hate taking pictures when the sky is like this, because it never seems to capture the glory of the moment.

Because I have spent the last few weeks more or less everywhere but Eureka, I have quite the backlog of pictures. I took over 600 pictures when I was down in San Francisco and Santa Cruz a few weeks ago. I took almost 500 this past weekend on my trip around Oregon. Here's a link to some of them. Some of the Oregon pictures do overlap with the Latest Photography link, but not too many.

Oregon! (and a little Washington State too)

I think I picked the perfect time of year to travel up there. Everything was absolutely gorgeous in fall colors. I seem to be perpetually living in places that don't have trees that turn colors in the fall, so seeing the trees is definitely a treat. I thought the waterfalls that Jade took me too were the coolest things I had seen in my life, until I drove up to Mt St Helens. That was well worth the 6 hour detour. The pictures I think don't do any of it justice, but man was it just breathtakingly beautiful.

And Portland is a cool city too :)
