Movie Reviews

I need a new default pic. For that matter, I need to totally redo my entire journal. I'm no longer "Lost in the Redwoods."

I've been on a movie kick of late, which tends to happen when I work a long string of swings because they are a nice way to unwind after coming home at 11pm. A thoughtful commentary on a few:

Secret Smile: Which I actually picked just because it starred David Tennant. Its the BBC version of a Lifetime Movie of the week for sure, but oh so good. Plus David Tennant is deliciously slimy. More so in the beginning though, then he gets a little annoying. I could barely finish because he was just...creepy.

Dr Who Season 4: After the above movie, watching David Tennant as the doctor again was rather weird. But so far I am enjoying season 4. It seems like the episodes are better and better written with each season. And Donna has very quickly grown on me, she's a lot different then she was in the Christmas special. Plus I found there is commentary on the eps! I accidentally changed the audio to channel 2 and there it was! What niftiness.

Evita: I tried, I really did. But I'm not a fan of musicals that are all music. And the music just didn't grip me, it was off somehow, though there was one good number. Only got about a third of the way through.

An Ideal Husband: What a totally random Victorian era romantic comedy-drama that made absolutely no sense whatsoever. I'm still not sure how they got from A-B in that movie.

The Producers: Wow. Waaay over the top. Wow. Though the rather unexpected appearance of John Barrowman in the "Springtime for Hitler" number was a plus. I knew he did theater, but man that man can sing! It wasn't a bad movie, I just don't think I was in the mood for something quite so colorful.
