I've added a new element to my ever-changing workout routine - and it's an unlikely one knowing me. I decided to take up yoga.
But not just any yoga...
http://www.diamonddallaspage.com/?page_id=24 This was exactly what I was looking for. I needed a change in my cardio, and I REALLY need the core strength and flexibility that yoga offers (especially the flexibility - I'm like the goddamn Tin Man from the waist down). However, I didn't want all that dumb new-agey chanting and incense (I hate incense) and "finding my inner child" and such. Diamond Dallas Page completely eliminated all that stuff I don't like about yoga and kept all the stuff I do like.
This video is actually how I found out about it (and later found out that I guess Diamond Dallas Page was a wrestler and then retired and turned into a yoga instructor).
That guy in the video is now one of his assistants in his workout videos, which I think is amazing.
In other news, yesterday was mother-effing insane - so much that I had to take a half day from work in order to fit everything in: Yoga, work, then finish my presentation project for my Hospitality Management class, then STUDY LIKE A MOTHERFUCKER for my ServSafe exam, did my mock health inspection of the commercial kitchen at Tri-C (it was fun to walk around with an important-looking form silently jotting things down as people working looked on, confused) for my Sanitation class, then DID my presentation for class (it was on places that we want to go and have never been - I picked Thailand. :-D). After that was when I took my ServSafe certification exam (I totally nailed it - it was SUPER easy). After school I tore ass over to
thedarksirenand
tiktiktok's house to feed and walk Sasha (Dawn and Thomas's SUPER cool husky mix, she's such a great dog!). I got to talk to Mr.
wraptboyfor a bit (he's taking care of their daughter Abby while they're away), then I just went home and
C-R-A-S-H-E-D.
What else do I put in this thing? Ah, here's my presentation on Thailand (which all had to fit on one page):

Thailand
www.bbc.com/travel/asia/thailand The Songkran Festival (shown above) - The Thailand celebration of the New Year is celebrated with water guns, water bottles, and buckets of water thrown at each other in the street. The water is a sign of paying respect to others and washing away the bad of the previous year. It originated from the Buddhist tradition of collecting the water used to cleanse the Buddha, then using the “blessed” water to give good fortune to their elders.
The Floating Market - This market is located at the Damnoen Saduak canal. It practices the old tradition of selling goods from boats, and is now a major tourist attraction.
Thai Buddhism - The predominant religion in Thailand shows heavily in their culture and government. Cultural taboos include touching someone’s head or pointing with your feet - the head is considered the most sacred and the foot is the dirtiest part of the body.
Muay Thai - This is a form of martial arts unique to Thailand and a very popular sport. Unlike many martial arts, Muay Thai doesn’t use a belt system, and it is called “The Art of Eight Limbs” due to its combined use of fists, elbows, knees, shins and feet.
Beaches and Islands - Thailand has many beautiful islands and beaches, and fishermen usually also function as tour guides due to their knowledge of the areas.
I picked Thailand because I’ve always wanted to go there. I love their food, and I’m fascinated by their culture and the history the country has to offer.
