Here's a compilation of yesterday's photos...most are from Lettuce Lake Park. There was a scarcity of interesting critters, but there was this woman taking her cockatoo out for a stroll:
A group of kids were practicing karate in the park. This little girl has the "You're going down, partner" look on her face for sure:
The hubby got this one. First time I have seen a Prothonotary Warbler...waaaay cool (of course I was pissed as hell that I didn't get the shot - lol!)
If you look closely, you can see that this discarded "sippee" cup is developing its own ecosystem...there's a snail on the outside of it and what looks to be some sort of worm and maybe a water bug on the inside.
Picture didn't come out the way I wanted it to, but I thought the trailing roots of these water plants were beautiful. There were little silver fishies swimming in and out of them. In the morning sunlight it was amazing to watch...almost like a kaleidoscope...the tendrils were undulating and the fish were glittering. It was quite captivating...would have made a better video than a still.
Budding things
Last sign of a rough winter...by Florida standards anyway.
Not for the faint of heart. This is the former alpha male Tom Cat in our neighborhood...the old prize fighter who has long since been displaced by the current alpha male. We call him Old One-Ear. Wish I could put his face on a poster for a Neuter-Your-Cat campaign. No way to get close to him, obviously as he has been feral for a long time. Wish I could find him a nice cozy place by a warm fire though, where he could retire in peace...
