Karaoke at Mauerpark, Berlin ✔️

May 24, 2015 18:45

Today we finally got to perform our rap duet of Hypnotize at Mauerpark in Berlin in front of an audience of 500+.

It was great to see such a receptive crowd to singing. A little girl went up first and forgot her lyrics during her song but the crowd kept singing along with her.

After a longish wait in the beating sun we went up to the stage to go up next. A few German girls were after us so I invited them to join me as backup dancers. Then another bigger guy came up, too.

We practiced a little that week but never in front of an audience, with mikes or with me knowing when to actually sing. Luckily I looked at the lyrics today to figure that out.

On the stage, we tried to make our dancing synchronized-- pretty difficult without any planning. But it seemed to workout and I did sing my parts at the right time. We had one mike we passed back and forth.

I thought my voice was shaky and I was scared of missing lines and my notes. Was a little out of breathe from dancing. How do pop stars do this?

Overall, it was invigorating and exciting to perform with Tynan and those German girls and guy. Not sure I'd do this regularly but really the crowd made it easy. Thank you, Berlin partiers!

Thank you to Tom, one of Tynan's readers for videoing the performance.

Tynan will post the video online tomorrow when we arrive in Budapest. Right now we are on a train --sleeper car. It's been more than a decade since I've take a sleeper car train. Excited to wake up in a new city and country!
