I just learned that one of my professors at UC Berkeley, Professor Wakeman, has passed away. He taught the course History of Modern China at UC Berkeley, and you can read more about him in this

He possessed that rare skill of storytelling that left you feeling enraptured at the end of each of his lectures. He focused on the intrigues occuring during the wartime period with the KMT and the CCP, he made us laugh, surprised us with his in-depth knowledge of all the historical figures, and his understanding of the language.
A wonderful professor to have, and I'm so grateful that I had a chance to take his course. It's so sad to hear of his death, he was only 68.
