cigarettes - 7 (ugh, chain smoked); sugar - 4 (kudos!); self-annoyance - v. high

well, no work today or friday, and i don't go in saturday until 7pm, so i have a lot of hours of free time. i mowed the lawn today, finally, after many days of heavy rain, and it wasn't made any easier due to the 'construction' going on around here. a friend of ours not only filled in a giant hole in the side yard and smoothed out a pile of dirt in the back, but he's building a lake for us in the front field! will even feature a little island with a tree in the middle. it'll certainly be interesting to see how that turns out...i'm not holding my breath. in any case, the yard is torn all to crap. but, i suppose that is what it takes.

i think i've finally taken care of the opossum that has been plaguing us and eating all the cat and dog food. those things have a bottomless stomach. anyway, i caught it eating the cat food tonight. we've caught it and released it before, but that didn't work, so i took matters into my own hands. after trapping it in a field of five gallon barrels, i ran inside and grabbed a fire stoker, forcefully poked it several times, and hauled it out of the cage with the hook and threw it to the driveway. when it tried to run back to the house, i gave it a sound beating with the stoker (waylayed seems a better term), until it managed to run away. the stoker can attest to this, given that the handle broke and the steel shaft is bent. i only hate that i wasn't able to put it out of my misery. yes, i think i earned a dark side point on this one :/ i'm not one to intentionally mistreat animals, but this bugger has cost us a *lot* of money, both in animal food and in the life of one of our cats some months back. so, if survival instincts work as they should, that thing shouldn't come back around again.

as stated in the first line, i am very annoyed with myself. a few weeks ago i gave a ride home to a girl at a local gas station who was being followed by some individual. i got her home safely, and she gave me her number saying i should give her a call sometime. unfortunately, work came on hard that week, followed by a multi-day civil air patrol conference in nashville. i had tried calling from nashville, but got no answer. i really haven't had much time since then even to call, and i'm sure by now there's no point in trying. :( being given a number? never happened before, and i appears that i've blown this. very annoyed. perhaps i'll see her around sometime though.

till next time, cheers.
