A basic, incomplete, background:

Clete was born in the backwoods of Apalachia, in the mountains of Eastern Tennesse.

His momma was a Cherokee who left her life on the reservation in Oklahoma to see her people's ancestral home in Appalachia, his Pappy was a Viet Nam vet, a grave digger and mortician's assistant for the US Army.

Clete grew up listening to his Pa's stories of death and war, and his mom's tales of the old ways of her people, and their view of the world around us. He sought out the folks of the woods, learning their wisdom and their ways. Some of the old folk had quite a bit to teach him, and he wanted to learn more.

He didn't have too much schooling, he barely passed High School. He set out to see the world on his own, with a backpack and his thumb, he went all over the country, just to figure out he liked his home best.

Somewhere, out on the road, he had his awakening. He doesn't discuss it, bu tit filled him with a new direction to his wanderings. During his travels he collected and learned the folk wisdom and beliefs of the people he met. Vodoun, Native American mysticism, Gypsy divination, Italian Stregheria, Druidism whatever he could unearth, he learned.

Clete tends to be a bit on the creepy side. He stares at folks a bit too much. He don't talk all that much, cept when he feels something needs sayin, or when he wants to learn something, and when he does, he's go no truck with sayin it, usually in the most colorful of manners one can imagine.

He ain't refined, he ain't pretty, he ain't prideful.

He's a simple man.

Looking for anyone he would have met on the road. Rivals, teachers, lovers, friends.
Particularly those who use a folklore based form of magic.
