[It seemed Rip wasn't the only predator around. High overhead, a shark was slicing its way through the water.

There were two things immediately obvious about it: it was huge, easily the size of a city bus, and its scales were a stark bone white.

Also, it was clearly missing one of its pectoral fins and yet seemed to be having no trouble winding its way through the crumbling skyscraper-reefs. Definitely not normal. Perhaps a fellow resident, then, even if there wasn't a trace of humanity visible in the beast?]

At first Rip sensed something above her. Moments later a shadow passed overhead causing the little vampire turned shark to pause and glance up.

..It was.. HUGE. Rip slowed down, her own blue tail moving from side to side as she slowly made her way higher into the water, making sure to stay within it's shadow as she tried to figure out what.. the hell this was.

[The shark continued on its way as if the vampire weren't even there, gliding through the water as silently as a tombstone. Straight ahead, a school of tuna were floating completely unaware of the monster bearing down on them.

Instead it let out a low growl, deep and powerful enough to rattle the windows of the buildings to either side. That sent the fish scattering like leaves in a tornado, something the shark totally ignored as it swam on.]

[Once she saw the school of fish in front of them, she felt for sure he would go for them. Perhaps she could see this beautiful and massive creature in action!

But, he merely scared them off. Though the way he did it... it sent a shiver up her spine! Rip just had to know more. Who was that? It couldn't just be another one of the random creatures... It had to be a resident. Or at least, she hoped it was.

For now Rip kept under the massive creature tailing it as it silently slid through the massive decaying buildings. Eventually she decided to speed up, to take a chance and swim along side the creature and even.. above it as she looked for any indication other than a missing fin of who it could be.]

[As she rose closer to the shark she could see a massive crimson eye locked on to her. Apparently it had noticed her. As she rose higher still she could see a pale blue crescent moon on the creature's forehead, the only other identifying feature it had.

The shark stopped (something else that sharks rarely did), its cold, near-reptilian gaze locked on the much-smaller woman. It wasn't too dissimilar to the look that it gave the tuna earlier.

This Sesshomaru is not for gawking at. :|]

[She noticed the mark.. and that rather inhuman eye. Yet.. it didn't seem like it belonged to a shark either. Who was this? When it stopped she.. continued swimming but sticking near. Unlike him, she had to keep moving. Rip had discovered that on accident really and she didn't want to feel like she was suffocating again. Though the feeling itself had been strange to her.

Was his eye.. locked on her? Rip wasn't sure what to do or even what to make of this. So far two things were apparent. This was a resident she did not know.. and she was as about as interesting to it as the tuna was.

So... She waved sheepishly and made sure she was ready to speed off at a moments notice.

[The shark continued to stare, as if its eyes could drill a hole right through her by sheer cussedness. But when it didn't seem like she was going to speak first, the creature opened its mouth, and it spoke in a deep, ominous baritone.]

What do you want, kyonshi?

[It was a reasonable guess to make; after all, she didn't smell quite alive or dead.]

[So it was a resident. One that wasn't human though... she had no clue who this was. But that word was Japanese wasn't it? Rip tilted her head to the side a bit in faint puzzlement.

What did that word mean? His own scent confused her a little. It smelled like dog and something else that she couldn't pin down.]

I vas vondering vho you vere und admiring your form.

I am Sesshomaru.

[As to the rest, he didn't bother dignifying it with a response. Whether it was over his looks or his killing power, it was all the same to him. Instead he began to swim past her at a slow, measured pace similar to a man walking away.

At length he paused and, though he didn't turn to face her, he tilted just far enough to one side that he could peer over one 'shoulder'.]

And you are...?

[Rip raised an eyebrow. Sesshomaru? It's the first time she heard a name like that. In a way, he already reminded her of the Dark Hunter. Only, less... insane.]

I am zhe Huntress Rip van Winkle~.

[She made a little twirling bow before grinning.]

I haf to zay, you remind me of zomeone I used to know.

A huntress of what?

[He didn't sound particularly concerned as he asked that question. If she was a demon-hunter, well...it wasn't his first time meeting one and let's leave it at that.]

[The shark let out a noise that sounded rather like a huff.]

I should have known.

[Oddly enough, it sounded as if he disapproved. Like she'd confessed to some kind of odious personal habit rather than murder, but still disapproving.]

There's no point in hunting garbage.

I suppose you can't help being what you are. [There were more interesting things that bled, but perhaps she came from a world where they didn't exist. So he wouldn't hold it against her. Much.]

And if you think they're interesting prey you're clearly a lower-class youkai than I thought.

[Another word she didn't understand. Rip frowned and paused her movement for a moment as sapphire eyes narrowed. She may not know what the word 'youkai' meant, but she did understand what 'lower-class' meant.]

I do not know vat you haf to hunt in your vorld, but in mine zhere are vampires und humans. If I vere.. 'low-class' I vould be hunting zhe very rats in zhe sewers!

[Never mind she did that here to both survive and not get killed by some of the stronger residents. That, and it provided food for her dear little yodare.]

I am a First Lieutenant in zhe Millennium Forces und one of zhe top zoldiers!
