Tintin

First thing's first: oh my GOD. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are playing Thomson and Thompson in the upcoming Tintin movie! I CAN'T EXPRESS HOW THRILLED THIS MAKES ME. T&T were always the best characters in the comic - excepting Captain Haddock, who will always win for reasons of sheer beardliness and ten thousand thundering typhoons.

You've no idea how many times I've read each of the comics. True story: I remember the very first time I read anything to myself in my head, and it was when I was about four, reading The Calculus Affair. Tintin and Asterix raised me in partnership with Enid Blyton. Everything I know about Ancient Rome comes from Asterix - and it's a surprising amount of historical trivia. Tintin was just brilliant in terms of general humour. I've started collecting the comics in French; hence they continue to advance my education. :p

I am so very excited for the upcoming movie. It's based on the best storyline as well - the Secret of the Unicorn, where Tintin and the captain go off on a treasure hunt for Red Rackham's pirate treasure! So much swashbuckling silliness, I might die of glee.

And John Williams has written the score! *DIES*

Originally, I was planning on posting about the fact that I think in words, but I think when I get excited, the words all jumble about in a highly Carrollian way, and all that stands out is one great big obnoxious exclamation mark and an image of the caps lock button.

TINTIN!!!!!!!!

words, asterix, tintin
