What kind of a job title is "invigilator"?? It sounds perfectly Orwellian. Who needs the Thought Police when you've got Invigilators stalking up and down the aisles, frisbeeing question booklets left and right (yet somehow taking a full five minutes to fetch you a second answer booklet when you've finished the first)?
INVIGILATOR. A shiver just went down my spine. Though to be honest, I normally can't think of what they're called, and instead use the term 'Examinator'. Examinator has a much better ring to it. It also sounds more like 'Terminator', which seems appropriate for one reason or another.
I probably shouldn't scapegoat these Bringers of Exam Papers for the evil that they are paid to do. I know they're probably all kind-hearted persons who empathise with the rows of terrified students tearing their own notes into shreds in pre-exam anxiety. But seriously: don't talk to each other during the exam, okay? Because eventually someone will explode in stress-induced fury, and it might just be me.
