Rant ahoy!
*sigh* it must be holiday season. The amount of wangst, flack and general evaporation of good will to all mankind has set in early this year.
I'm posting this here so everyone knows where I stand on this issue, most of you will probably have heard me bang on about this but it could be useful to have somewhere to link back to when the issue next crops up.
Okay unlike real life every browser has a "Get me the hell out of Dodge" button, more commonly know as the back button.
It is there for a reason, most programmers are lazy beggars and won't write a feature that A) can't be sold for a lot of money and/or B) won't be useful on a 90% of the time basis.
This means that if/when you come across a post of ANY description that you don't like for ANY reason you can quickly, silently and efficiently get the hell out of there. You don't have to create wangst or bad feelings or (in my case) lots of eye rolling at the petty name calling and general childishness. If you don't agree with a post please either make a polite comment to that effect and engage in a sensible discussion as to why not or go away!
Life is full enough of people cutting down their fellow human beings for big and tiny reasons if we want to hold out any hope for the survival of our collective species we need to start learning to be tolerant of a different opinion/way of life/outlook on the world.

Oh PS: yeah this has been prompted by some online happenings in various places recently and I just needed to vent here before I said something somewhere that would just have inflamed the situation. The last thing I want is to create more stress for a couple of good friends and damn good mods.
