Election Day.

I know that to a lot of people voting is blasé, seemingly a chore more than an honor, a privilege of freedom. I try and tell Tammy and people I work with who don’t think any election other than a presidential election is important how wrong they are. And god IT’S SO EASY. You don’t have to go stand in a line and wait for hours… you can get an absentee ballot, review your choices and make informed decisions. I LOVE ABSENTEE BALLOTING. When I’m in a voting booth, I rarely know what the difference is between Supreme Court candidates or board of election candidates… but when I have my absentee ballot, I can go online and find information about the candidates, what qualities I like that they may or may not have. I would love to sit around with Tammy and discuss the different policies of different judges and board members. I hate being bombarded by “so and so just isn’t for us” or ”so and so didn’t pay their taxes and let raw sewage flow into their rat hole rentals”… it’s so racist and evil and in the grand scheme of things, un-American. Or maybe that is what America is now and that is why people don’t feel the need to vote.

So for those of you who are not voting today because you say it doesn’t matter or that “they are all crooked” or “my one vote doesn’t count”… well you are still making a difference. You are turning America into what the powers that be want it to be- a place where a few control the discourse, where those stupid ass ads on TV are truly what turn heads because so few are really informed, where you vote for one party because that’s what your parents and your grandparents did and do.

As I always say, the world is an ugly evil place but it is the only world we have. And it’s a very rare occasion that you have a say on what can happen in it. Today is your day… how are you going to affect it?
