You work hard, that makes you very special. Hell, you got in to MIT. That in and of itself is a feat.
When you enter a specialized collegiate setting you initially cease to stand out. I thought I was special. At MICA I've meet people who can draw what takes me several hours in literally a matter of minutes. I've met people who already have killer demo reels, who can model circles around me, who have a passion and talent for art I can't even begin to replicate. Does this make me not want to be an artist anymore? Sometimes. But ultimately you have to stop and think why it is you're pursuing your field. I want to animate. I want to be part of the storytelling process, to help create something beautiful that's bigger than me - a cultural epic that will enrich the lives of those in need of an escape in the very same way that other epics have helped me through my life. It doesn't matter who has a more impressive skill set than me, no matter what, I'm going to find a way to do it. Because if I don't I will feel like I have failed to fulfill myself, to achieve what I wanted to in the time that I have.
So take some time to think about what it is you want to accomplish with your life and why. Forget money and forget whether or not it will be easy for you to succeed taking that path - think about what you must do in order to be proud of yourself. If that's the medical field for you, then no matter what, find a way to do it. :)
That aside, whatever you choose to do, I have faith in your ability to succeed. You're one of the most motivated people I've ever met. <3
