So, today was my final for 18.02a (multivariable calc). For the past few days, I have been telling my friends that I am going to hug him after the final. Why, you might ask? Well, he seems like a cool guy.... Anyways, after the final (which I feel I did decently on!) I went up to him and hugged him. It was really awkward. More awkward than I thought actually. He didn't hug back (which was to be expected) but he did shake my hand afterward, which was probably him saying, "no hugs, but it was nice teaching you and stuff." Which, made it slightly less awkward. ANYWAYS, it gave me a good idea for the next Bad Ideas Competition, have like a list of Nobel laureates and Fields Medalists at MIT and whoever can hug the most in a certain amount of time wins.
So, next semester I going to take a weightlifting PE, so that I will be forced to work out. There is no way I will have the self motivation to do it otherwise.
I got a UROP! Working on protein engineering! It seems to be more computational than I had first wanted, but after taking to grad students in the lab, it actually seems pretty cool! Hopefully I get a mix of bench work and computational stuff... Also, the PI seems like a really cool guy. Also also, assuming I still want to go to Harvard-MIT HST three years from now, it is really great since he is an alum and admissions officer for it!
I bought textbooks for two classes yesterday, $350... I didn't buy them for organic chemistry yet, since the MIT coop didn't have any used ones, and new, all the books and the model kit would be $350.. ONE CLASS!! Oh well. I think it is secretly the hospitals, they are keeping the price high so that it deters people from taking the class so that no one can cure cancer so that hospitals make more money.
I think I am going to teach myself differential equations over the summer, and take the placement test in the fall. I don't really feel like taking another math class.
Also, I learned the "Member-at-large" in debate, who has been running the info learning session things lives at tEP, which is a really cool frat in Boston. So, I now randomly consider him a much cooler person.
