Part Three of Story's End

“Hey Sammy!”

Sam smiled at his brother as he jumped up from the bench in front of the library. He grabbed his backpack and threw it over one shoulder, closing the distance between the Impala and himself.  When he got there he threw the bag in back and jumped in the front seat.

In Clocks I think it's more than just the need to help people, especially for Dean. He still needs that validation. He was 21 by the time that series started and he'd been hunting with John for a long time. It's what he knows and what he's comfortable with.

The big difference between Clocks and Story's End, besides age, is that Dean has made a choice to settle down for Sam. In Clocks, Dean goes off to school with Sam, but he never intended to stop hunting. They still do it on the sides. But with Story's End, he can't continue hunting. There is no one else to take care of Sam if something happens to him so he'd end up on the streets or in foster care. Dean would never do that to him.

Regardless of what will happen when Sam turns 18 in this story, for now hunting isn't an option for him. Although... this train of thought is making me think of something the brothers COULD do to help the hunting community :P Tee hee hee ... now I have an idea, thank you!

Anyway... so yes, they get their fresh start and both are trying their hardest to make this work. The hunting community might be called up if they need help (John left a lot of IOUs to collect and people have made sure to let the boys know it) and they might even allow someone like Bobby or Caleb to hang around for a day or two, but they won't be getting back into the hunt or traveling with any hunters. But with this new idea... who knows what will happen :P
