So i'm having trouble writing lately. Just ... can't seem to get motivated and when I find the energy I don't seem to have much time. I was thinking yesterday though that it might be time to pick up a few of my other fandom projects and THAT might help me get motivated.
My first project is to upload all my stories onto AO3. I know people say it's really easy, but I want to edit all my stories before I do since most of them were posted without benefit of a beta. Not that I'll get a beta for them but time and distance should help me manage some fixes I think :P I want to do a delicious account for my new updated ficlist. It's been over a year since I last updated my current one and I think it's time to fix it up again. I think a delicious list will be much easier for me to update consistently :P
I also need to get my two other projects going. I have a comm and graphics for a movie remake listing but I haven't fixed it yet. So I need to work on that. I also need to get some interest/pimp out my comm
sp_inspirations. I was all excited about it when I came up with the idea but it got lost in work/kids/school and I didn't get a chance to pimp it out... I think I'm ready to get it going again. The idea was to have a place for artists to put up prompts and for other people to put up writing ideas (phrases that hit them, songs, poems, etc) where authors could go to get ideas. I love the idea and I want to do it. Anyone still interested in it?
Anyway, I think burying myself in some fandom fun that doesn't require as much creativity as it does time put into it will help me get back into my happy place.
In RL.. work wise it's pretty good. I'm a teacher for 2 year olds and I'm getting ready to start my first summer class. That should be fun :P The first group of kids I worked with is getting ready to move up to the next class so I think that will be a little sad (but mostly a blessing because the ones moving up are a handful). I'm still teaching a special needs drama class on the weekends. I just reformatted it and I have my first session this weekend to see how the kids like it. Focusing less on teaching social skills and more on theater (with an actual chance to use those social skills). I'm trying to find some good theater books for kids. It's hard because I'm looking for technical stuff. We're lucky to be in a working theater so I can use their costume shop and their props and all that. Also, my family is heavily involved so I have a costume designer/director/choreographer I can call on to come be the 'guest speaker' at my class :P I can't wait to get into it.... now if I could just find a way to market it for free so I can get a full class (ah.. the joys of non-profit work).
My kids are doing a production of the Jungle Book this summer at my brother's theater as well. My son is the rock (yes that is an actual part with a tiny solo bit in a song and everything!) and my daughter is Shere Khan (Rawr!). My son is rocking his rehearsals and I love going with him. They had a danceathon last week at the theater and we went. When someone requested the Bare Necessities, all the kids got up and danced their part in the song. There is one part where the groups break into three and have different dancing parts. I surprised all the kids by getting up and dancing my son's part and my daughter's. Funny too because the kids in my daughters group were looking to me to learn the part and I wasn't there the day they learned it (thankfully my brother videos tapes and puts it online so I can learn from afar :P). I also had to teach them the electric slide when the music came on :P
That's about it. Think I'm going to explore AO3 tonight and maybe see about putting up a few small snippets of random fandom stories I've written to get the hang of it. Any tips, of friends of mine?
