Dear Scholarly Gods...

Dear Scholarly Gods,

Thank you for the gift of BS you've given me.  Apparently the piece of shit writing that I thought would not go over in a 4 year college not only goes well, but got me a 94% on my first paper.  I promise to sacrifice more hours to porn if you continue to help me get by with this.

In other news, can you please pass along your high regard for me to your test-taking counterparts?  I have a midterm tomorrow and I'd even be willing to write Mpreg to do well :P

Sincerely,

h_r

In school news...

My first bio midterm came back with a grade of 75%.  Not as bad as it could have been so i'm happy since we can drop the worst of our grades.  I'm dedicated to not forgoing class anymore (which I have been since he doesn't care if you actually show up :P)

First  CD - School Age Years Midterm was last week but I don't have the grade back yet.  We'll get them Wed.  I think it went pretty well.  And, as you can tell from my letter to the gods, my first paper got me an A! :P

First CD - Adolescence Midterm is tomorrow and with it an essay that I haven't started on yet.  See the above mentioned note on BS?  I should be pretty set.  Over all i've done well on the chapter tests and I'm hoping I can actually get some chapters read tonight and tomorrow.

First Cosmology midterm is next week (a week and a half away).  I think it's gonna be hard, but we already have the study guide and he's devoting the class beforehand to review so that rocks.  Seriously... it's kinda awesome.  Did I mention that my teacher is The Dude??  :P

In RL ...

Met with my daughter's teacher this morning to see how she was doing.  She wouldn't talk individually about students at their Back to School night so I set it up with her for this morning.  I'm pretty happy with it.  I hinted that maybe my girl was so distracted in class because she was bored with some of the material (Ie: challenge her!!) but we'll see how it goes.  We have the same problem with her getting to do homework normally.  She's so caught up in reading that she doesn't listen.  Which... AWESOME!  She's distracted by reading other books in class.  If you've got to be distracted... WAY TO GO BABY!  :P

We have my son's IEP on Wed.  I'm sorta looking forward to it.  For the first time since he's started in the system, they were able to actually get him to sit down and be compliant and do some tests.  He never has before so just that fact is amazing!  It was hard earlier, because they sent home his educational and speech reports and while his educational isn't too bad (he's low in a lot of areas because of comprehension skills so I expected that but he shows he can do the work when we get around that...) but his speech is way off.  Not like I didn't know that, but it's a really touchy subject for me.  I sat there reading all these comments about the testing and how at the highest he was on the low average end and it just gets to me.  It's the one area that I really felt, if we'd known just a tiny bit more, we would have picked up on his autism earlier.  Top it off with going to class tonight to find a lecture about langauge development.  Oh joy.  It wasn't too bad.  It's the first language development lesson i've been able to sit through in two years (I have actually had to walk out of all my classes on speech days because it bothers me so much).  I think I made it because there wasn't a lot of talk about the beginning milestones and where they should be at younger ages.  I didn't have to live through the guilt of those.  Just a mild cringe about what 4-5 and 6-7 years old should be doing.  I warned my new school friends before hand though... just in case.

Anyway... IEP... so that's this week.  I'm excited.  When I went to my son's Back to School night they were already talking about giving him more mainstream time and I was just soooo excited that they're really willing to push him to help him succeed.  It's such an amazing program and I can't wait to see what happens for him this year!

I'll post writing stuff later... except that today I posted my vampirebigbang !  Woohhhooo!  And the kamikazeremix went live today also!  Amazing stuff!  you've gotta see it!

Alright... so now i'm off to write an essay and get some studying done :P  Nite!
