A friend asks you to recommend a book: which book would you choose and why?

The Key of Soloman? Maybe the Bible? Okay, I'm kidding. Mostly anyway. Any book is a useful book to read in one way or another.

I used to read a lot of books - every kind I could get my hands on. Books about urban legends, monsters, ghosts and ghouls; those were part of the job description. They're useful if we're talking research; if we're talking fiction about them, then it's all useless crap. All that does is remind me why people like us have to fight: because some people are so clueless they wouldn't know what to do with a vampire if it knocked on their door. Although they're less likely to knock and more likely to just break in.

Anyway, a book to recommend to a friend? I really don't know. It depends which friend, what kind of book they're looking for…stuff like that.

At the moment though, I think I'd recommend they read something on my very long reading list in case they find something useful.

Me? Right now, I'm reading the Art of War again. Maybe there were some specifics I missed last time. Whatever the case, I need about as much advice as I can get.
