TL;DR [Personality]
Drizzt is basically the anti-drow. Where his brethren are power-hungry, heartless killers, he is a sensitive and caring. He was taught in secret by his weapons instructor ( and father ) Zaknafein, his own personal views. That the drow lifestyle was immoral, disgusting and wrong. Drizzt adapted to this quickly, and was looked down upon by the rest of his family for his attitude. A perfectionist with strong morals and an even stronger sense of justice, Drizzt is constantly misunderstood if only for how he looks. He knows the world is cruel and uncaring, and most will shun him, but he fights still for this injustice. His only wish is to live freely and peacefully on the surface with the humans, the dwarves, his pale-skilled brothers, everyone. The stories of drows do not bode well for someone like Drizzt, and he is often precieved as a monster even when he proves otherwise. He is hesitant to approach others due to his experiences, and seems to have horrible bad luck when it comes to meeting humans and other surface dwellers. He often plans far ahead, and does next to nothing on a whim. If a situation looks bad, he knows well enough to escape, unless there is someone that needs his assistance. Even knowing they dislike him, and will never apperciate him for who he is and not judge him for WHAT he is, he will always help someone that needs it.
On the inside Drizzt is still a warrior, a drow born and raised to kill. because of this, there is an almost insatiable creature he calls 'the hunter' buried deep inside of him. The hunter, once produced, is difficult to control. He is a wild beast that kills without remorse. Luckily, Drizzt has been able to withhold this monster, unless the situation calls for him. It is near impossible to contain this hunter when one of Drizzt's dear friends are in danger, and he has yet to actually hurt someone he cares about because of it. He deeply loathes this part of him, and does his best to contain it. He does not want anyone to know of that beast, or what he is capable of.
By the time of Montolio's death, thanks to the blind man's teachings, Drizzt has learned that he has the heart of a ranger. He knows every rock, and tree and creature has a life, has a spirit, has a name. Making him more in tune with nature and an all around better scout than he had been before. He's also still genuinely curious about everything and everyone around him, and willing to learn about the surface dwellers more than they are willing to learn about him. When he meets Cattie-Brie on his patrol around the mountains, he begins to realize that no everyone will judge him. but that does not change his hesitance due to past experiences. Still he plans to continue until he finds a home. Or something close to it.
[Specialties/Abilities]
- Drizzt is a master of various weaponry due to his training with Zaknafein while still in the underdark. However, he is known to usually weild two scimitars, which he has more than mastered over the years. His tactics are usually made to avoid battle, but if the situation is dire he can hold his own. His skills dwindled slightly when coming to the surface, along with his armor and few magic abilities.
- He can use a few types of magic, one of which being a globe of darkness he uses to surround both him and his enemy. This is used mainly as a means to escape a battle, and avoid further conflict, but if necessary and enraged via the Hunter, Drizzt will use it against his opponent and strike. He can also use a harmless magic called 'fairy fire', which allows him to see the location of his enemy even if they are invisible with a fire that doesn't actually burn around them. he also uses this to trick surface creatures into thinking it may be some sort of attack magic.
- He basically has built in night vision. He can see in the dark as well as he can in the light, using the heat and infrared sonar used by all the drows in the underdark. It is actually easier for him to see at night than it is during the day, considering where and how he grew up.
[Affection] I'd say yes, but he'd be extremely awkward about it.
[Fighting] Go ahead. He'll fight if he has to protect himself.
