Time spent

I've finally decided to take a bit of time to sit and do my post AC / cat-ch up post. Been a long time since I've done a post of any sort other than to wish a couple of friends a happy b-day. Life has been seemingly routine without much happening other than doing the day-to-day work thing. I very much enjoy my new position at work but its not very ( Read more... )

I do remember who it was that performed the actual upgrade, Bennie. It was you. However, I don't believe that I stated anything about the "reason" for the upgrade to you directly at that point. It was earlier, when initially finding out how to upgrade (and being redirected a couple of times), prior to getting to you. I do not recall who specifically it was that we said "We want to upgrade to Super Sponsor so we can do the luncheon thing." to. It is very possible, especially in the business of Friday registration, that anything following "We want to upgrade to Super Sponsor" wasn't even heard by the individual(s). Just as when I was handed the bag, if anything was said about it not including the luncheon invite any longer, was not heard by me or pat. We didn't notice until we opened the bags and found no luncheon invite.

That part of it was disappointing, it was the following "complaining" I did to a couple of staff members (Whom I won't give names of )and the subsequent responses I received from them that really upset me. The responses were defensive, arguing it as if was my fault for not knowing the policy (To a point , true I suppose) and justifying how it had to be that way due to the cost of the catering. There seemed to me no caring about me being upset, no attempt to reconcile to sooth my mood. Only a defense of the policy. An apology like yours now or the offer to refund to a downgrade would have sufficed to do that. Had there been , I'd have most likely have said what I will now to you...No need, I think the con does a lot of good for a lot of folks and I don't mind supporting it with some extra dollars.

The whole point of mentioning it in my post now was not to call the staff names or say they were "grafters', not to point fingers at any specific individual(s). It was to express how I was made to _feel_ about the policy and the response to it that I received when I complained at the con. Things I'm certain are not the Boards desire to leave any attendee of the con with, yet , I was. I think its important that you and the rest of the Board are aware of this. It was my hope at the con and in the writing of this post that by addressing my complaint you can avoid any "implications". The bottom line was that at the con itself, I left with the feeling as I wrote in the above post. I'm glad my post caught some attention, that you were directed to it and , that you responded as you did. Now, I feel better.

Its still my personal opinion, however, that the 72 hour rsvp for the luncheon invite will cost you lost upgrades in the future. There are good reasons for waiting to upgrade and you are leaving out people by handling it in the way you did this year. *shrugs* Maybe economically that's better off for you in the long run. Maybe I'm completely wrong and it won't effect upgrades at all. Just the way I believe the way of handling the luncheon will lead.
