A Rant about Boxes of Books

Sep 10, 2009 17:46

A brief history and then a why I hate the Post Office. I'm part of a website called bookcrossing that is about tracking books. The main focus is to label the books and release them "in the wild" for anyone to find and read and track where it goes after it leaves your hands. Provided of course people take the time to log them. I have registered almost 2,000 books on that site, many in my To Be Read Pile, many already released, and many I box up and send to "Zones" around the USA to be stocked and released in other locations.

In the past two weeks I have had TWO boxes of books lost/mangled in the postal system. Two FULL boxes PACKED with books that are now lost in the postal system somewhere never to reach their destination.

One box reached it's ending completely empty, and another I received the mailing label back with a note from the Post Office that the box it was attached to is no loner attached and location unknown.

That's like $15 I blew out of my ass in postage to mail this stuff that will never arrive. The PO will destroy its mysterious contents so these books are completely lost forever. I've destroyed literature.

I'm so angry I could punch the next mailman I see.

I have only had one or two items lost in the mail before, doll clothes I easity replaced. This is ridiculous. Two boxes full of books in a short time completely gone. I'm shaking with anger, frustration, and remorse.

random, rant, life
