Those who seek only to survive long enough to reproduce are animals.

Those who seek knowledge, companionship, and better understanding of themselves are people.

Those who seek only destruction are monsters.

I believe your classification of monster is both subjective and incomplete.

True enough. How would you expand on it?

Several distinguishing properties require elaboration in your statements.

Subjects under category: people are frequently responsible for lifeforms programmed with destructive purpose. Other lifeforms are programmed as destructive through other means. If purpose is the variable which determines a monster, how does evaluation proceed? What constitutes the term destruction and are indirect actions applicable?

Both subjects under category: animals, people require a level of destruction to sustain themselves. When a category: animal reproduces through the act of destruction itself, how should they be reclassified? If the pursuit of knowledge requires destruction, is it acceptable?

Is category: monster inherently derogatory? The classification and elevation of what determines category: people is responsible for the destruction of many things deemed unacceptable to coexistence.

Destruction for self-sustenance is one thing. Needless violence is another. It's possible for people to become monsters, or at least do monstrous things. Moral boundaries vary from person to person.

You speak like you don't have one yourself.

Not technically.

I think I'd make a technical exception in your case.
