This weekend... did not go as planned. Saturday started out ok, with brunch at
Anita's starting at 10. In compliance with my "bike to brunch" rule (where I can only go to brunch if I bicycle there - mainly because brunch is usually so terribly unhealthy), I started riding at 9:40am and got there right on time. It was rain mixed with snow and some hail falling at the time, for which I was very glad that I had thought ahead and worn sunglasses to protect my eyes.
After brunch, I rode the path I intended to ride with DR, just so things went a little more smoothly once we actually got out there and did it. Things went well, and I managed to find a pretty good route with only the occasional high traffic area on the way. Dropped by QFC and home briefly, before riding out to Gas Works Park in Fremont. Arrived there 15 minutes early, and tried to stay warm until DR arrived. 50 minutes later, I couldn't handle the exposure any more and went home feeling very ill - DR called shortly after I left to tell me that he was running late. I told him that I was going home, and there wouldn't be any ride. I jumped into bed and fell asleep for 5 hours, waking up with incredibly stiff and sore joints from exposure.
Today we went snowboarding, but due to FUBAR's on DR's part we waited around until 10am instead of the usual 8:30am. We finally got started, and DR said that the first thing he wanted to do was a black diamond run (2nd hardest) and to have me take some photos of him on there. So I went up ahead of them, and since I was about 20-30 minutes ahead of the others I trekked to the top of a double black (hardest). In the meantime, DR and PA thought I had gone ahead, despite exclusively going up there for them. After a few more runs, the pain from my knees was getting too much and I went and met Mita for lunch. Post lunch, I did 2 runs, and couldn't do any more, so Russian, Mita and I all went home. I slept almost the entire time because it had taken so much out of me to get down the mountain.
Overall, this weekend was a flaming ball of fail. I'm still hurting from waiting in near freezing temperatures without adequate clothing. I hope it will get all better tomorrow.
