Soldierboy and I had come to an understanding of bloody sorts. We had come to the understanding that bygones were bygones. He had his wife, who died and now, he seemed to somehow have two slayers that are attracted to him, and me...well, I have Buffy now, except that I don't

Spike is freaking out, but again, I understand that inclination. I had an inclination of my own, but chose not to call her cell, in case she is fighting right about now.
Spike stopped before the door.
“If the boy is still full of piss and vinegar then I’ll be putting him to sleep for hours, if you know what I mean. I need the interruption but am not going to play around with him. Angel would crap little puppies if he came back and his boy isn’t here.”
“You’ll have a helping hand there. I’m not exactly stress-free about Buffy being in danger.”
He opened the door and Connor looked a lot calmer then he had before when I had seen Angel, Justin, Faith and Cordelia taking him downstairs.
It could be a game, though. “Connor, we don’t want you to be all tied up, but you were insane less then an hour ago. Did you feel something go through you recently, or are you playing, trying to get away? If you are, the pain is going to be intense.”
I looked at Spike. “Let’s untie him.”

Couldn’t have said it better myself.
“Second what he just said, kid.”
Ripped a knife out of my pocket and started cutting the twine that had been tied around his ankles and hands, tightly. I could see the boy grimacing from the effort and it didn’t look like he was some big, tough son of two vampires right now. Wanted to see how it felt to have a bitch for a mother and a brooding tit for a father, but didn’t ask. Besides, if his memories were altered, then he wouldn’t have any recollections.
Finished untying him and he didn’t even try to get up. He just asked us to apologize to Leah for tossing her into the lamp and to Melissa for punching her in the face and tossing her into the wall. He said he would sleep till Cordy and his father got back and that their trip had been a successful one, but that he still remembers everything.
I left the room, soldierboy a little more leery, but he closed the door and we walked back upstairs and then quickly to the bedroom, where I couldn’t help but peep my eyes in to see Leah and Melissa cuddling together.

They smiled but Leah told me to watch him and Melissa said to get her if he became a problem.
I almost ran over Spike on the way back downstairs and when I looked in Connor was trying to fall asleep.
“Apparently he’s telling the truth. Apparently, Cordelia and Angel worked it out…”
My phone rang and I grabbed for it.
It had to be Faith with good news.
It was Cordelia’s cell phone and she was quick to ask me to check on Connor.
I told her the good news and then found her sigh to be a good omen. Things had worked out for Connor, so they had to for Buffy as well. She said that Angel was driving like a gazillion miles an hour, quote unquote and that they were almost here.
“Well, if it’s no bother to you, Spike, I’m going to go join my ladies in some sleep. Cordy and Angel are almost here.”
I walked away, suddenly excited.
“If Faith calls with more good news, I’ll let you know, Spike. Scouts honor.”

Sure, leave me here to worry about Buffy alone. Yeah, Cordy and Angel are almost here, but they could be an hour from here. What am I bloody supposed to do until then?

I watched him go up to his two ladies, again amazed that he had two sexy slayer girlfriends. It made me miss Buffy even more.
I plopped down on the couch, still bleeding cognizant of the boy attempting to make an escape and still aware that Boris could be very much on route to here right now and enough people had gone bloody missing for one day.
It wasn’t going to happen again, not on this bloody wristband with a timer.
I found myself looking up to the heavens, through the ceiling, metaphorically, of course, and praying for God to keep his purest and most heroic warrior safe over there in Paris.
