I couldn’t believe that my studly had killed that cute and weak ass vamp and said as much to him as we ran deeper into the city towards the river.

“There’s no such thing as an innocent vampire unless he has a soul, Faith and I don’t have to explain that to you. He would have eventually killed. It was just a matter of time and now that won’t happen. Now, we got good news about Buffy, potentially, but how is he keeping her under control? A love spell? If that’s the case, those are brutal. I’ve seen it before while in Romania. Some gypsy cast a spell on a man to love her out of spite and she ended up being killed by him because of his level of desire for her. Buffy like that could be a load to handle, especially if Xavier is as tough as his reputation is. You might need to use that devastating right to the gut on Buffy. I’ll take out Xavier. Are you ready for this?”

“I’m ready for it. Buffy might not be as fragile as those vamps were, but if I break her ribs too, then I’m sure that she’ll forgive me when she’s back in control of her thoughts. Still, that vamp might have turned out to be like you and you killed him…Yeah, my rights were pretty devastating in there. You and me are sparrin’ when we get back to Seaside…And as for Xavier, you’d better be careful. I’ve seen Willow work the magic’s, man, if he’s anywhere near as good as she is, then it won’t be about fightin’. I bet you can take any vamp, Angel and Spike included…in a fight, but if he puts the whammy on you, then I might be in danger from all three of you. We gotta be careful in there, baby.”

He gave me a funny look, which I didn’t understand, but before I knew it, we were passin’ tourists in the dark of the night and passin’ seriously beautiful buildings too and I’m not even into that shit.

She jumped around from topic to topic like she owned the attention span of a kid in kindergarten and it was adorable.

“Check on you and I sparring, except I’m wearing a flap-jacket on the rib cage if we do. As for Xavier, I know what to expect, but I’m of the opinion that we don’t announce ourselves to them. We hit them with a sneak attack and take Xavier out with a quick stake before he knows what hit him. Buffy is under a spell…or if she is, then we’ll need to contain her without hurting her. I don’t know magic’s, but they sometimes fade, and sometimes need to be reversed, don’t they? He probably hit her with the major whammy, so we’ll need to find out how to reverse the spell…”

Faith seemed to like the sneak attack thing and as we swam, I found myself wanting her in the worst way, the water making me feel so good that it reminded me of how good that she made me feel.

Once on the isle, we passed homes and finally found a castle at the end of the row, against the shoreline that had to be his.

“I say we use the windows and are leaping ability.”

She looked at me and soared upward, three floors and looked at me, as I joined her. I could hear the action of what sounded like a third person in there being tortured.

We broke two bars on the window with our bare hands and slithered in. No alarms, if he had any.
