mmmmMMMmmmMMMMMmmmMM nothing I like more than Korean food. I can't say that it isn't in my system. I was born with chop-sticks in one hand and a jar of Kim-chee in the other. I LOVE Kim-Chee.. I can actually say that after a long night of heavy drinking, I always feel a little off the next day. The one thing that can put me back to normal is Korean food.
Case in point, two Saturday's ago, Seth and I went out on the town (yes, it's a once in a year event) I got a bit drunk, I have the scabs to prove it. (Yes, my standard grace was applied while I walked down the street). Anyway, Sunday, I was feeling a bit off, and I craved Korean food, so what better than to peruse the internet and find a different Korean restaurant to go to than the traditional hangouts that we usually prefer.
We were driving down 15 Mile (A.K.A. Maple) on our way to one restaurant I had the address for, when we happened upon another restaurant that was Korean/Japanese. You've gotta LOVE Troy for it's diversity. Seth slammed his breaks into the next parking lot on the other side of the road (which happened to be a creapy looking church) and headed back towards the restaurant that we saw. (We'll find the other restaurant next time). Anyway this is where we happened upon Shilla. The outside of the building looked pretty plain and cheap looking. Kind of asian kitch. On the inside it was beautiful. The ceilings went up like what you would expect of an asian temple. Needless to say the outside did not reflect at all what was on the inside.
Seth of course took pictures of this inside of the restaurant and the food. I could probably post them later, but the tables were laid out nicely, and the food was wonderful. The Kim-chee had a very good taste, and the side dishes were of couse all consumed except maybe one. There's always that one side dish on the Korean table that is indiscribable, and untouched.
All in all it is probably one of the better days, you know one that you don't want to end, but know will end faster than you would like. Excellent food, excellent company, and a beautiful day.
*sigh*
