Yuletide Letter

Dear Writer,

First off, you offered to write a story for me, one that I've always wanted. Whatever you end up writing and with which ever fandom-I won't be disappointed so have at and let your imagination fly!

That said... I tend to be someone who likes to have as much information as possible before doing something, so below are some more details about what I tend to like or dislike in fic. If you already have ideas, please run with them. These are just prompts if you need them. I will like whatever you like, so if you enjoy writing the story chances are I'll enjoy reading it.

I love: World-building that is, especially if it is logical and includes everyday details that flesh out the setting. I love established relationships, where we see characters building on previously founded relationships. The story doesn't end when the girl and the guy kiss for the first time! I love seeing the dynamics of friendships, and conversations with double meaning. I love politics (both historical but also the power plays between individuals). The world is complicated and layered in shades of grey. Stories that show that off, rock. As for genres, I love mysteries, and adventure, but I'm also happy with slice of life! Romance or pure gen are both things I enjoy, and my reading spectrum runs anywhere from schmoppy fluff to dark fic about serious subjects. My most most important thing though is the women. I tend to get into fanfic for the female characters. This doesn't mean that they need to be fighters or tough as nails (though they can be). I like the women to be strong characters with good and bad skills, ideas, thoughts, and morals. I like them to be one of the main characters, to have conversations with other women (and other men besides a love interest) when there are such other characters in the fandom. But being strong, means being strong on their own terms. For the fandoms set in historical settings, this means they aren't twenty-first century girls in the past. They still know (and at least sometimes agree with) the cultural norms/fashions/ideas of the time.

Things I'm not fond of: Since I tend to be mostly interested in finding out more about the women in these fandoms, I'd ask that a m/m pairing not be the focus of your story. It can be there in the background, if you want, but focus on the ladies. Also, please no m-preg and no vomit (you might be wondering why I'd even bother mentioning it, but surprisingly it has come up in fic...). I am not a fan of smut, unless it is somehow moving the plot forward. In some of the fandoms I've requested it might, so if it does move things forward, that's great! Just no P w/oP. Thanks! Basically, I'll go for anything so long as it is both reasonable for the character to do and serves the plot. I don't mind dark stories or melancholy stories (heck, that's a lot of what I write even), but a hopeful ending if not an outright happy one would be preferable for Yuletide.

As for specific fandoms:

1) To Have and Have Not (Cricket, Marie "Slim" Browning, Captian "Steve" Morgan, Eddie)

I love the adventure of this film, and the relationship between Steve and Slim in this. I'd love to see stories about more adventures of what happens when they leave Martinique, or of how they adjust to getting to really know each other, or if any issues from their individual pasts crop up, or what they do with and/or because of the war. I've already said, but I love established relationships where we see the people interact with each other, instead of just falling for each other. I also love that, while the characters do the right thing, they have flaws.  Slim and Steve are not pure good. There's apathy in Steve, or at least that's something Steve tries to be. Slim's been known to steal and lie too. Eddie can't keep out of the liquor. They are flawed and its great. I love friendship too, so It'd be neat to see Eddie and "Slim" interact, or see missing moments with Slim and Cricket, or even people running into Cricket again (against all likelihood). This movie is all about snappy dialogue, dangerous times, mystery, adventure and, of course, that sizzle. Any story that has elements of that would be great

2) Remember WENN (Betty Roberts, Scott Sherwood, Celia Melon, Maple LaMarsh)
This is a crazy, hilarious series, isn't it? It made me really sad it got cancelled, especially without ever wrapping anything up. If you wanted to tackle any one of the cliffhangers, I'd love to know what you think! Or a missing moment. Or something during the war or even after the war. Romantic elements or pure gen are both great, but I'll admit I root for Scott to get his Betty. If you feel differently and want to write some other outcome to that issue, that's fine! Only, please no Booth/Sherwood. As for other pairings, I'm pretty canon. I'm also equally interested in the not-main players too! If you'd rather write about whatever happened to Celia out in Hollywood, have at it!

3) The Ghost and Mrs. Muir

I fell in love with this film for so many reasons. It transcends so many genres- scary, romantic, dramatic, comedy, almost-spiritual.... and it was all of these with such confidence and ease! I love the Captain and Lucy's relationship- their quips, their fights, and the occasional mischief (he rubs off on her and she starts to cuss!). Oh, I  especially got a kick out of when she's talking to him and others are around! Honestly, I'd love a story about other misadventures they had during that year or an AU where the Captain doesn't go away, or a love story of some sort... and yet, I also love that Lucy is so strong and independent. I love that she obviously had a wonderful and strong life, even if she was alone. And I like that Lucy herself understands that she did miss out on something because she was alone, but also valued that independent life. Having that independence reflected is also great. I'd also be interested in the Captain's interactions with Anna, or with Martha, even! Basically, anything with these people I'd love.

4) My Girlfriend is a Guhimo

This is such a cute and quirky story that actually does really have the characters change and grow. As much as I love the main pairing in the film, I'm really interested in Miho and Park Dong-joo's relationship. How he was, essentially, guiding her in the human world was intriguing. You could play off their relationship in so many ways- as friends/allies, as a one sided love, or perhaps as an AU where it becomes something different (maybe one of Dong-joo's many plans to separate the couple work and they are in Japan or something or maybe he met her before she met any other humans etc.). I'm also interesting in finding out more about each of their pasts. Who was this Goblin Princess Dong-joo once loved? How is being made of her fire having any influence/bearing on Miho? What was Miho's time like the last time she was in the human world, waiting for a groom? Or what is their relationship like after the story ends? Anything you want to write about these two would be interesting.

Whatever you write, I know I'll love, so thanks in advance!
