Just did my Yuletide Nominations! YEAH!
Every year after Yuletide, I always think "Oh! This would be great for Yuletide; I must remember to nominate this!"
And every year I forget that I ever thought that about anything.
Still, even though one fandom is a movie I've only recently been introduced to, I'm really excited and think there's some nice variety to the fandoms I nominiated this year. Do you have fandoms you nominate every year, or do you always do different ones? Many of the ones I'd requested (and usually also nominated) for several years running were ones I'd never gotten stories in. But last year it seems like I got stories in quite a few. So here's what I nominated:
Remember WENN- TV show about a 1930s radio station. Lots of hijinks, puns and cute (but historically accurate) clothing. It ended on several monumental cliffhangers. Sadly, AMC will not release it on DVD; happily the show creator encourages fans to share and share alike. My whole family loved it, and my father even went out and found fanfiction for it (side story: he made me a burned CD of Remember WENN fanfiction when I went away to college and explained, "There's people, and I guess they write down how they think the series would have ended." Oh, Dad.) Characters nominated were: Betty Roberts, Scott Sherwood, Maple LaMarsh, Mackie Bloom
To Have and Have Not (1946) C'mon. Surely I can't be the only one who wants more adventures for Slim and Steve, right? RIGHT?
Its a Bogey and Becall Movie about an American living in a Vichy controlled area and being pressured to help the Cause. Yeah, its a little like Casablanca, but you don't mind because there is sizzle between the two main characters. I nominated: Slim, Steve, Eddie and Cricket.
The Ghost and Mrs. Muir- How is it I'd never seen this movie before a month ago? An independent-minded widow rents a haunted house for her, her maid and daughter. What starts as a seeming ghost story becomes a comedy, a romance and something more. I just loved the banter between Mrs. Muir and the salty sea captain ghost. Characters nominated: Captain Daniel Gregg, Lucy Muir, Anna Muir, Martha Huggins
What will/did you nominate? What fandoms are you excited to write for? To get stories for?
Can anyone believe Yuletide stuff is getting started already?! Where has the year gone?
yuletide!,
