Guests? How wonderful! Please, by all means, indulge in a bit of the candy that our host as been so kind as to provide me with.

If you have a litte time to spare, then feel free to stay a bit and have something to drink, as well! I have plenty of sake for everyone.

And the cicadas would whisper his name in the reeds, "Gegege no Ge..." if there were cicadas in the Netherworld, that is. What is there is a young boy, dressed in a Western devil costume, much to his bemusement.

Trick or treat...

What a delightful costume! What's your name?

He bows politely.

I am Gegege no Kitaro. It would seem that I have been drawn here for whatever reason. I'm afraid I am rather confused about this. It is reassuring to meet another Youkai here, however.

Depending on how broadly you define Youkai, they're either quite thin on the ground or everywhere you look. Would you like some candy? Perhaps something to drink?

Ah... some tea would be nice. Perhaps a second cup for -- oh, it seems Father hasn't come with me for this. Well, that's perhaps for the best. I hope he's not worried about me.

Youkai are everywhere, where I live.

Youkai are quite common in my home, as well! In fact, humans are quite rare there. Would you like any sake?

I think I'll pass, but thank you for the offer. I never quite got into the habit of drinking alcohol, I'm afraid.

There is something of a split where I come from. The humans largely keep to their world, and youkai to ours. Unfortunately, there are times where the youkai do not respect the rights of the humans, and times where the humans fail to show the respect necessary to the youkai. It is a complicated situation.

If I didn't know better, I'd say we were from the same place.

Perhaps, or perhaps we just come from many worlds that mirror each other in common, linking ways. It is not unheard of.

May I have your name, perhaps? We are inclined to refer to each to each other where we come from simply by what we have been identified as, but it'd be rude of me not to ask anyway.

My name is Yuyuko Saigyouji of the Hakugyokurou Shrine. Princess of the Netherworld.

Not this Netherworld, you understand, but the proper one. The land of the dead.

Get your honorifics right silly me *smacks head* gegege_no_ge October 29 2009, 19:57:12 UTC
I see. It is an honor to meet you, Saigyouji-sama. I do not believe we have an equivalent where I come from.

Are you sure I can't interest you in any sake? It's from a very good year.

I do apologize. Perhaps if father were here, he would enjoy some, but it seems he's not. I suppose I still have a child's taste buds in many respects.

A pity.

Now, I've given you my name, but I don't believe you've given me yours.

...Ah, I believe I had? Perhaps I'd forgotten. Gegege no Kitaro, or so I'm often called.
