We took Ferdi to the dentist this afternoon. He didn't really say anything anyone else hadn't said (not much you can do for baby teeth, watch and wait....) but he took our concerns seriously, gave us a list of things to watch out for that could indicate a problem and made us an appointment for next month to check up on him.
We decided that Ferdi deserved a reward for bravery so we took him up to Ballantynes toy department (being the nearest purveyor of such things) where he chose a ridiculous purple snake that is longer than he is (the twin of one we gave to one of Crispin's friends a wee while ago). He was very cute kissing his snake in the checkout queue.
I'd been a bit worried about my friend Francine as she was about a month past her due-date with her third child and I hadn't heard from her. There's a delicate etiquette about contacting ladies around their due-dates - I've know several over-due women take the phone off the hook because of how cross they are at well-meaning people ringing to ask if they have had the baby yet - so I put off getting in touch until there was no way she couldn't have given birth already. I finally emailed her today and it turns out her email has been malfunctioning and no one has gotten the several photos she's sent out of, now six-week-old, baby Lucy. Not many details yet but I'll try and visit them soon and find out how it all went - another homebirth so I'm guessing it was all pretty much OK (note to self hit Francine up for stories for the homebirth newsletter).
And we discovered last week that Jamie's step-brother and his wife are expecting another baby in October. When we had Crispin we didn't think our kids would ever have cousins and now they're going to have two of 'em :-)
I had nearly two glasses of wine with dinner and now everything is pleasantly muzzy and I'm having to concentrate quite hard on typing.
