Well ladies and gentlemen, it is official..... I am officially a published authour.
Today I received a letter from the Poetry Institute of Canada (the one in which I submitted a poem to their poetry contest last month) AND apparently I am a finalist in the contest.... AND they apparently would like to publish my poem in a anthology that will be published in January.
I can't even explain how excited I am, but at the same time it doesn't feel real at all...
This is the first step towards my dream of being a writer.
I'll let you know what place I get in.... if I get in forst place, I could win $500!!!
And in case you guys were wondering what the poem was that I sent them, here it is.
Second Chances
I have come here to dress your wounds,
to heal your disease with my warm touch,
to let you drain the blood from my body to gain back your strength,
to mend your broken heart and hold it gently in my hands.
I have come here to open the door you hide behind and reveal the light to you,
to sew the pieces of you back together with my hair and my veins,
to calm your mangled mind with my soft voice,
to quiet those screaming voices in your head that terrorize you endlessly.
I have come here to make you feel alive again,
to show you a world that no one else sees,
a world full of flowers and glass, skin and spirits, stars and wings.
to create a new life for us, to forget the past that is infected with mistakes and betrayal.
I have come here to become a part of you like an unborn child,
to bind our souls to each other with pleasure and beauty,
to melt our bodies together with skin, bone and blood.
I have come here to share everything with you,
to see you dance freely under the stars again,
to feel you deep inside of me like a fire spreading.
I have come here to protect you from all harm,
to shield you with my body,
to take the bullets aimed at your heart,
to sacrifice myself for you on the altar of second chances.
I have come here to love you like never before.
I have come here to save you.
