LJ stuff, Apple freebies and T&T mobile phone wallpapers.

No more typos. LJ finally implemented the option to edit comments that have not received a response yet. Sure, this also opens new possibilities for participating in wank, resulting in some people wishing there was an option for OPs to "disallow comment editing completely" , but I doubt it makes much difference. Sure, you can now edit out your spiteful remarks and replace them with more harmless phrases, but only when your comment hasn't been replied to yet. Up until now you could do exactly the same (albeit not by editing) by deleting your comment and re-posting.

Users like me will probably just glee over the fact that typos can now be edited, if one feels like it. Edited comments show a time stamp of the last edit, which is something I've seen in other online forums, too. Of course max. transparency would be reached if you could reproduce all edits the way you can on Wikipedia, but that would require a probably not practicable effort and server space. We don't need to have everything, I just want to have the option to edit typos when I feel like it (i.e. in communities; don't get me wrong and go edit-trigger-happy, not all typos need editing, because many are funny and lead to funnier conversations. But it's nice to have a choice.)
[Edit] You're said to receive an additional notification when a comment to your post has been edited.

What I would like to know is whether or not you can actually edit screened comments (your own only of course) and comments at the end of frozen threads (shouldn't make a differrence, but who knows). Must try it out. [Edit] Works with my own comments.

Sadly LJ is petty and only offers this function to paid users, likely in the hope to make getting a paid account more attractive. Personally I don't think that works on many; generally it would have been smarter to implement this handy function for all users and speculate on (re-)gaining the LJ "fan-/userbase" by just making Livejournal better. But longsightedness never seemed to be a strong point of 6A, heh.

[Edit 2] Uh. Seems I keep missing out on things, for example the "adult content flag" feature, and again (seen in this thread). o_O

In other words, I'm currently filled with glee because I got two free hat thingies from a local Apple retailer. My father pointed out a coupon in today's newspaper ads (for "as long as stock lasts"), and I immediately showered and was out of the door. XDD; Freebies yay! (It said one coupon per person but I bought a second newspaper and asked an elderly lady to get the second one for me. My father loves freebies too - we're hopeless cheapskates in that respect, haha!)

That's our wooden telephone monkey. With my hat. XD I definitely wouldn't buy stuff like that, but I love promotional stuff per se (only exception would be tobacco brands, out of principle) - when it comes to me it could be adorned with a pooping donkey and I'd still like to have it. Actually, a pooping donkey logo probably would have been even better. XD

I'm sure there could have been more interesting things to post about. Umh, the weather is really bad today? *flops and grabs blanket* It's cold. I want to travel to Asia. :(

Ohhhh! thebeck uploaded some of the special T&T phone wallpapers at 2wenty_2wo (entry f-locked). I had totally forgotten about that! Each Best of album comes with a code for a download, so people in Japan can travel around and collect T&T eyecandy. Some are funny, some pretty, I really like them. I still hope that someone will extract the original files from the phones with skills and software, but for now these are nice enough. <3 Check them out (and link me to more if you've seen any, because I sure as hell missed out on most comms in the last month).

Last edit: Anyone of you living in Japan in need of two of the above mentioned codes required for getting T&T wallpapers ( more info) ? I have two and thebeck doesn't need anymore (no time), and the extended deadline seems to be the 14th of november(?)... we apparently still need someone who could grab the pics from Hokkaido and maybe photograph them off the phone. chibi-hime volunteered, so I'm sending them off.

t&t, pretty boy eyecandy
