Friday was our first "Success Day." I was teamed up with Ms. Bryant to teach Critical Thinking and Writing to half of the 7th grade. It wasn't as bad as most of the teachers were making it out to be. Ms. Slater (who is about 6 feet tall and 300-400 pounds) is hilarious. A student (ESE kid) told her that she had "dirt under her titties." She replied, "You have dirt under your's. I'm supposed to have big titties because I'm a girl, you're a boy." He started to cry and told her to shut her fat ass up. She said, "You're fatter than I am. You have 4 chins." Funny stuff.
I found out Thursday during 4th period that I'm being moved to 6th grade Read 180. It's going to be a lot easier teaching that class because everything is done for you and you only have 15 kids at the most per class. I'm sad that I'll be leaving 7th grade. The team is hilarious. At lease Tameka is moving with me. We were told we are being moved because they need teachers with more experience with discipline in 7th grade since the kids are out of control this year. I understand that. I feel it everyday. After our training on Saturday, I can't help but think something else was said to the 6th grade teachers that we are switching with. I overhead a conversation between the teacher taking over my room and a teacher from 8th grade. It's amazing that they would say the things they did with me sitting right next to them. I guess they didn't think that I was listening. I wasn't, since I was paying attention to the speaker, until I heard my name. Those bitches had the nerve after class to ask Tameka and I why we were being moved to 6th grade. I didn't realize it was such a big deal, but apparently it's the hot topic at M.G. Ms. Bolden, the 8th grade teacher, asked me why we were being moved, and I told her it was because of the need for stricter discipline in 7th grade. She had the nerve to say, "and you think you'll be better in 6th grade?" Then, another teacher that wasn't even at our table, comes over and asks me, "Is it the teaching (the reason I'm being moved)?" I said, with an attitude, "No. I'm sure if it was the teaching that was the problem I wouldn't have a job and the DeSensi team wouldn't have raved about my classroom for 3 weeks straight. We're being moved because of these bad-ass kids."
The 6th grade teachers are so upset at this decision. I believe they are so mad because they are having to give up their cushy jobs. Read 180 is the easiest class you can teach. Everything is done for you and you only have to teach for 20 minutes a class. I'm going from 90 minutes of full on instruction with heathens to 20 minutes. Not to mention my class size is being cut in half. I have 30 kids in a room now, but I'll only have 15 at the most. I guess I would be upset at that too, but it wasn't our choice. I like what I'm teaching. I love the subject matter, and I was finally getting somewhere with my advanced class. I actually got them to like Poe. That doesn't happen easily. Man, I am so pissed. If those females try me next week, it's on. I am ready to rip out someone's jugualr. Women are impossible to work with. I wish everyone in the school was as cool as Slater, Jones, Stallworth, and Skylark. Oh, and Ms. Bryant is a riot. She called a girl a "stupid bitch" the other day. I laughed. hard.
