I have a picture of my grandfather and me standing under the Evangeline Oak, taken just after I graduated high-school. That's a beautiful area.

I continually used the term "verdant" while we were there. I was most impressed with the HUGE oak trees. The tree in the cathedral square in Lafayette is estimated at 500+ years.

I have always wanted to explore parts of PA (Lycoming, Lancaster, Lehigh Counties) That's were my Palitinate ancestors settled. I have photos of a few of the centuries old tombstones. Your description of your walk among the oaks on the plantation made me smile. I'am glad that you and the Missus took the trip..........

I suggest you do that exploration. It's quite rewarding.

We're already planning on returning to the area to do more research.
