Geography went okay. As in, I know I passed the class ;P The best part of the morning was my trip to the bookstore though - they bought my book back for $39 and some change!! I couldn't believe it. I was expecting a "We'll give you $3 for this" or worse, "None of the professors requested this book for next semester, so we won't be buying it back." But whoa, $39 - you just can't beat that :P I was happy. I called my mom and told her, which I probably shouldn't have done, because I know she'll probably ask for the money since she paid for my books this semester.
Charles and I went to Kinkos tonight to print out covers for the tapes I'm making. I've been to several Kinkos in recent months, and I've noticed a trend: the majority of people there are freakin' DUMB (sorry, if you are reading this, and you're a Kinkos employee - I'm sure that you're the exception!). Maybe the problem is that I'm going there at 12-1AM, and they figure that they can settle for less-than-bright employees working, since there isn't a whole lot business during those hours. Another thing I noticed about Kinkos is that there is always a gazillion employees working there, but only one is able to assist customers with basic questions, the cash register, etc.
When we arrived at Kinkos, we stood in line for about 10 minutes waiting to ask the cashier to a) answer whether or not we would be able to print to photo paper on the computers for customers, and b) sign us onto a computer. We turned around and saw another employee wandering around by the xerox machines, so we asked him. His response was "I don't know. You'll have to go ask the guy at the counter." So finally we get to talk to the cashier (where we originally were). I told him that I needed to print something from disk and was about to ask about the photo paper thing, when he rudely interrupted me and told me I'd have to do it myself on the customer computers. I sorta snapped back at him, but not as meanly as I normally would have ;X He told us to go ask someone else to sign us onto a computer - the guy who claimed he didn't know how to do that.
Well, we went back and asked the xerox machine guy to please log us onto a computer. He had a good reason for being so hesitant about setting us up the first time - he had no idea what he was doing! He asked if we wanted to use a Mac or a PC, and when we told him we needed a PC, he led us towards a group of computers and asked us which ones were PCs (!!!). When we showed him which one we wanted, he tried to type in the password, but it didn't work. He kept trying over and over again, sometimes typing when the curser wasn't even in the appropriate textbox. It was so annoying. Apparently, the problem was that he was using Friday's password, and it was already Saturday (it was something like 12:05AM - I won't hold that against him).
I really don't know why they would hire someone at Kinkos who does not know how to perform simple tasks. We had to ask 3 people to ring us up before we could find someone who knew how to work the cash register! These people were all pretty young (within 5 years of our age) - how do they get through life without knowing stuff like this? How do they get a job at a place like Kinkos (not to make it sound so prestigious or anything) without knowing stuff like this?! I worked in environments where different people performed different tasks, but they were all eventually trained to do all of the "basics." Besides, no one seemed to be busy doing much of anything aside from hanging around, chatting with their friends.
One last thing that drove me crazy tonight. When we were finally directed to someone who knew how to work the cash register, he flat out ignored us. The girl who told us to go to him kept calling his name from across the room, and he would look towards her, then resume talking to his friends. I turned around and saw her pointing at us. When I turned towards the guy again, he nodded, held up a finger to indicate to her he would be with us eventually (although he obviously wasn't doing anything important!) and kept talking and laughing away. GRRRRR!!!
IH8KINKOS!!!!!!!!! Yes. I do.
My covers, however, came out very nice. I'm excited for my grandpa to see them. Charles helped me use the paper cutter (since I seriously can't stand those things) and made them look very pretty :D Yay! Mwuah!
