this is the epitome of the end. all these halted lives everyone lives, but they are not living them, they are stuck in ruts. they are stuck behind the cycle of doing the same thing constantly. that is how most of humanity is. i am sure i am like that at times. being in that cycle seems the only way to really survive and stand a chance in the world ( Read more... )

I began thinking about evolution. As darwin saw it... traits that allow a member of a species to live better and reproduce get passed on eventually causeing a shift in the whole population. Well first of all.. we put such a huge pressure to make anyone with a mutation (especially physical) to Fit in to society that we fail to recognise any individual traits that make them supperior to other people. Conducting surgeries and pumping people full of drugs to make them normal. If apes had killed the first one that walked on his hind legs, where would we be now? (assuming you believe in the theory). We musn't forget how the 'media' and other popular culture attempts to influence our decions of what we feel is attractive. Everywhere I go I see women pimping themselves out to the base male instincts. Men trying to become more buff and muscular in order to attract ladies. It's as if certain parts of society are in evolutionary control. But lets stop for a moment. Lets say for a moment that these traits make it through. That evolutionary traits beneficial to our current environment help us to survive and push us through.. Exactly what are we addapting to? Food in a box down the street? instant light and heat? unlimited protection from the elements? That sounds like traits that will get us killed if someone pulled the plug.

Of course.. there are arguments for any direction one wants to take this. There's no correct answer. But I like that one. I'm gonna copy this to my journal. I hope you don't mind.
