→character
Name: Kurt Hummel
Fandom: Glee
Birthdate: August 16, 1993
Age: 17
Physical Appearance: Kurt's build could be described as "slender" or "lean", certainly dwarfed by most of the boys at his school, something he wouldn't change if he could. He has brown hair which is usually swept to the right (though occasionally rises in a pompadour) and has eyes that are usually blue but can look grey depending on his outfit and surroundings. Speaking of outfits, this will be the first thing anyone notices about Kurt Hummel. Just when you think you have a handle on his style, he will surprise you and come to school in furry pants and pink sunglasses.
Any Noteable Physical Characteristics: Manicured nails and an air of perfection.
Education: William McKinley High School
Occupation: Student, Diva
Sexual Orientation/Preference: "Mercedes is black, I'm gay: We make culture." -Glee, "The Power of Madonna"
Significant Other: None.
History:
Everything starts in Kurt's memory with images of his mother. He remembers her doing simple things, pushing him on swings or holding his hands as he walked in her heels, his feet almost slipping out and the bottoms clunking on the floor. He remembers watching musicals with her and singing along. Then he remembers when she died. He remembers not understanding why she couldn't come back, just sit up again. He remembers the funeral most of all. It was the nicest outfit he'd ever worn in his little life and he was wearing it because his mom had to go live with God, or so everyone kept saying. This was the start of his break with religion.
As his father says in "Acafellas", he was fabulous from an early age. Fashion magazines, makeup, sewing as soon as he was old enough to work his mother's old machine, skirts to elementary school... for awhile when he was young, he didn't understand that the attention was bad. When people mistook him for a little girl, he didn't know why his father seemed upset. Once the teasing began in full force at school, he learned. He toned it down considerably but it was a testament to his strength of will that he didn't reject himself entirely. He became a bit jaded to the daily dumpster tossings after awhile and it helped to remember what his mother always told him as he'd put on skits to the songs from their musicals... that he was a star. And he would be, he could hit all of the notes, he could sew all of the latest fashions, he would be hailed as the next big thing in pop culture. It helped when he met Mercedes. She accepted that he was "not gay" after only saying it once and then they settled into a routine of chick flicks and pajama parties.
It was obvious when he joined New Directions that he was finally on his way. After briefly being a football player, then a cheerleader, coming out of the closet and being madly in love with his brand new step-brother, as well as making out with Brittany of all people, things finally seem like they're settling back down. If only Rachel Berry could stop stealing his solos and he could stop coming home with bruises on his shoulder from all of those rounds with the lockers, things would be looking up.
Personality in Seven Words or Less: Flamboyant, sensitive, romantic, sarcastic, witty, impetuous, dreamer.
How others Perceive Your Character: Kurt often comes off as highly confident, to the point that he scoffs at the abuse that's hurled at him from people at school and often slings cutting remarks right back. It's only when a barb hits particularly close to home or he sits at his vanity later than night that the inner vulnerability shows through. However, he truly does believe that he is a show-stopping number who is going to revolutionize, first McKinley, and then the world. And he'll do it alone if he has to.
How and why did your character arrive in AV? After a number of mix-ups with transportation, Kurt is supposed to be taking a Greyhound to visit his Aunt Mildred, she of the booze-breath, but she's family and lonely and will watch old Astaire with him. He fell asleep on the bus and woke up as it stopped, getting out in AV before realizing that he's not in Kansas anymore.
Twenty-Questions for the Characters:
(In your character's voice)
1. What turns you on: Stage presence.
2. What turns you off: Cruelty.
3. Would you ever see a shrink: My body's a temple, which makes therapy heretical.
4. Worst Childhood experience: My mother's funeral. It was harder than the death.
5. [Complete the sentence] ... All the world's a stage... and every spotlight's shining on me.
6. Favorite Song: You're horrible, oh god. I don't think I can even answer this. Let's say... "Living in the Shadows" from Victor/Victoria and anything from Gypsy. Or... Wicked. Stop me.
7. Favorite Word: I would say "star", but that word has been perverted by the sticker-harpy of McKinley High. I'll settle for "adoration".
8. Least Favorite Word: Fag.
9. Favorite Curse Word: Bitch. And proud too.
10. What's something that bothers you about girls? That they wear lace without drawing questioning looks. They don't know their blessings.
11. Sound or Noise they hate: Booing. Cat calls. You get the picture.
12. Sound or Noise they love: My voice. And Julie Andrews.
13. Is there something you will never forget? My dad's reaction when I told him.
14. Have you ever had feelings for someone you didn't expect to? You could say that. They're always the most compelling love stories.
15. What do you do when you're upset? Sing, obviously.
16. Do you get jealous easily? Honestly? Absolutely.
17. Half full or half empty: Half full.
18. Do you talk about your feelings or hide them? I don't know why people talk at all when they could sing.
19. Is there a difference between love and being in love? Oh, absolutely.
20. And, finally, if Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates? Don't be ridiculous. In case you're wondering, I meant that question.

This means he hasn't gone to Dalton, has never met Blaine Anderson, still has a bit of a lingering crush on his step-brother and is still suffering abuse regularly at McKinley.
