Day twelve of the cleanse. Still holding pretty strong; have used only a few tablespoons of olive oil the entire time, had to add eggs and boneless, skinless chicken breasts though. I feel pretty good, though Nicole feels a little blah and we haven't noticed any major changes in energy, regularity, or overall health that offset the lack of delicious, delicious food. I have lost about ten pounds though. And the food isn't bad, I just miss cheese and bread, mostly. Also, this would be the twelfth day sans alcohol as well...
Guiness was very much on sale at the grocery store today and I put it in my basket before I decided to return it to the shelf. I left the store with bananas, eggs, and an onion.
The international student who'll be living with us will be arriving on Saturday. Her name is Seok Hwa. We spent the weekend getting our spare room to resemble an actual livable bedroom for her. It looks pretty good. This should be interesting.
I finished up Blindness last week. I thought it was pretty excellent. I appreciated the way the structure mirrored the condition of the characters. I picked up The Age of Wire and String and have been struggling with it. I nearly gave up on it on two separate occasions, but I always finish a book and it's only about 150 pages, so I feel like I can get through it. And I hold out hope that as incomprehensible as it is, some things start to click for me.
I'm back from the gym, looking out my western library window and the sun is in my eyes. I checked out a basketball from the front desk and shot around for about a half an hour. I haven't played basketball in at least three years, probably more. I made fifteen free throws in a row and then spent some time in the sauna.
My business must pick up.
